I've been to germany and denmark and atleast those saunas are pathetic In many places in germany your strictly forbidden to throw water on the "Kiuas" an employee handles that, and he keeps the temperature at 40c (really it should be around 80)

Yes we have saunas.

They are ace.

Although having a Finnish forest around your sauna definitely makes it better

I heard that they had tried to do a proper sauna in some German hotel, with mixed results. There was a proper kiuas and lauteet in there, everything built just nicely, but the sauna was completely insulated. It had a pressure door, for God's sake!

Also most saunas in my city focus on gay men. Strange.

A funny sidenote:
I was watching "Ripley's: Believe it or not" some time ago. They told there about finnish sauna and the sauna world championships. The additude was like: Can you imagine they have saunas with 100C degrees. OMG it's the temperature where water boils. It is hazarous for your health, don't try this at home.

Sauna is good for you, I bathe each and every wednsday and sunday , altought I prefer to keep the temperature around 90C.

Well, we have one in our basement, so yeah, I've heard of them. I never use it though. I want my sauna by the water, so I can cool myself down.

It's called a turkish bath.


The only place you see saunas here is at a nice hotal or one of those day spa things.
