Yeah, but turks (ottoman's to be more accurate) took over entire Arabic Chanate somewhere in 15th century, so their equipment could be used for sarranids.
Too late for the M&B timeframe.
Saranids could use swords, small 1h axes, maces, spears, lots of throwing stuff and bows.
Maybe, use the spear with the side hook as a polearm...

Yatagans are not throwing weapons but I agree that they don't suit Warbands timeframe. What about this one:

It belongs to an Ottoman ruler but I think it fits Sarranids very well. It's wider than a scimatar and has a distinctive curve.

Edit: Giving katanas to Sarranids? No thanks. But I'd love to see a Japanese-Chinese influenced faction in this game. I always thought Armagan had a soft spot for Japenese since we all know what came out of that "special" chests in M&B vanilla.

Having just completed several kickass matches; I declare this **** solid. The sultanate is awesome.

The Turks only turned their attention to the rest of the Islamic world after... what? The Siege of Vienna? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that means they only started their expansion into the East and South in the late 17th century at least.

I took these today I thought Id put them up

and I think that sword looks great

sexy as hell,  but one thing that bugs me is that the shadow of the horse goes across the sand as if it were pefectly flat.

As far as I understand, the sand is just a texture. So, basically, you cannot make "wavy" shadows because there is no sand microrelief in the game.

Wouldtn it be nice if the Sarranids had slings as unique throwing weapon? Just like only the nords have axs?

Nice idea. It would make them a bit more unique.

Maybe more unique, but less realistic.

This sword is great but too late. It's from the 15-16th centuries.

Less realistic yes. But the game is not set in the real world. None of the factions need to be an exact copy of a real  historical culture.

Even if the game doesn't set in the real world, it has a realistic world. You are right, none of the factions need to be an exact copy of a culture and there is no faction which are a exact copy of it. But all weapons, armors, etc. of the game are real, existed in the middle age, so create a totally new weapon would be unreaslitic and make the game too fantastic. I don't want that. Arrows and especially javelins are quite good for the sarranids.

It would nice if they give them this kind of shields in order to make them more unique (it's from North Africa and Spain):

Or give them a new military architecture style (because the current one is the same as the khergits).

No, It's from 14th century so it should just fit in fine.

Give the Sarranids Twohanded Khergit swords as unique weapons(or those to Khergs and Hafted blades for Sarranids(or even better, the strange sword for Sarranids(allthough the strange sword does not really fit the faction)))

A sling would not be a totally new weapon. The romans used them at least as far back as the 6th century BC so I see no reason why they would be unrealistic. I just think giving Sarranids slings rather than javelins would make them  more interesting.

EDIT: I like your shield and architecture ideas though.

Big_Mac, cover your pics with a Spoiler, they're too big.

I think that was Tholgar, although you cannot be sure with those turbans

I think it's him, too... was the only male of us beside me there, and I stood back watching the dancers - cool video, btw

I wish for a bow with a better range, though - perhaps a special desert bow or something
That was me alright!

I had a chance of playing a Sarranid and it wasn't too bad. Their 1h are really nice to use, I'm not a bow-type person but I had couple of nice kills with a sarranid archer so I guess it's not too bad either. I really like the aesthetic side of the faction aswell. I think it was a good idea to put them in the game.

I forgot who mentioned about the slings... But duuude... Slings are like.. for ancient, time period people.

Nobody has mentioned camals. What's wrong with you people? Camals represent Middle-easterns, desert, and cigs.
