- Archers:

I agree with the 2 bow only option. But i would add all the three arrow types for options.

<only PD2 pow isn't that bad, but IMO one more athletics is nearly balanced with one less PD- no need to make them even weaker. They should have strong bow>

The mail armor should be changed over to infantry only.

<agree, as long as they have PD3 bow. 1 Point in athletics isn't small boost, but lowering PD, bows and armour to compensate is too much>

Should have access to spears&basic shield aswell. ( multi role archer )

<we already have multi-role archer - nord archer. Sarranid archer should be fastest, light armoured skirmisher (while nord archer is multi-role, and vaegir archer is dedicated marksman. Also polearms are specialistic weapon, and should be usable only for infantry. Agree with small shield>

In a quick overview, i would suggest some changes:

- Infantry:

The introduction of unique shield for faction characterization. Although the "almohad" influence is slightly noted the use of tear shaped shields isn't fitting.

The access to maces and spear types ( spear is the most common weapon wherever ).

The setup of armors to 4 light/medium types to enhance the "skirmisher type" ((. the role of  Heavy infantry should be taken by the dehorsed sipahi. ))
They definitely should have unique shields, maybe something like this:

Armour choices seem fine now, some extra weapons will be neat, but swords are awesome now.

Hell no to multi role archers. I'm more than glad Vaegir nor Sarranid archers have no acces to shields. Try drawing a bow with kite shield strapped to your back and tell me results. More arrow variety would be nice, maybe one bow could be replaced by something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xybIP-9mc1E  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLasu7S5tBU

- Cavalry:

I would remove the heavy lance. Only lance and light version.

Free javelins. Jarids slightly more expensive.

Whole Sarranid horses speed toned down slightly ( 2 to 4 points would make the difference )

Access to some kind of two handed maces.

Their cavalry seems nice as it is now, light and fast, they need no heavy weapons.

Ha, ninja'd

I think the archers could stand to be a little more unique.  And I think an awesome way to accomplish that would be to give them an expensive bow.  But free jarids!  The game could stand to have a troop type that is actually supposed to use throwing weapons for extended periods of time.  They still wouldn't have access to shields and throwing weapons aren't exactly accurate.  But if someone didn't like the jarids they could opt for the nomad bow instead.  And doing that and taking a melee weapon would limit them to only one free stack of jarids.  I think it would help make the faction more interesting.  The archers seem very vaegirish right now.

Wth? You can have tons of stuff strapped to your back and draw a bow irl. Anything from quivers to swords. A shield isn't on the way when it's on your back.

Even shield strapped to your elbow might be used firing a small powerful composite. The draw is short enough to allow a more agile troop type.

Sarranid archers are fine. Better bows and worse melee compared to Nord archers, better armors and worse bows compared to Vaegir archers. Most importantly faster on foot than both of them. So giving them a shield might be too much.

It's totally cool, but as I know they were introduced only in XVIth century or so.
Also yatagans were used as... throwing weapon. Wiki sais that it can be effectively thrown up to 35 metres.
I didn't know that. They are more like long daggers than swords but I think they are too long to throw anyways. But that forward-curve might be the reason they could be used as throwing weapons.

Almohads are IMHO too similar to the now-existing Sarranids and Zulu don't strike me as the best choice either. I think I'd prefer something like the Malinese Empire for a more african-ish faction.

Yeah, maybe. But how is it with their equipment. Was it by far as good as the equipment of some of the factions in MaB?

That's so great that there is now an arab faction ! Their arms and armors look really nice and historic for the moment, but it would be better if some of them have hauberk.

This sword looks like one I made there is four months:

Not played yet but going by these screens they look moorish. And hence would become my favourite faction

Expensive bow is definately needed a composite one imo, also thats a great idea in actually having skirmisher troops by giving free javs (jarids would just cost a little, say 250?) and yeah some unique arrows would also be a good idea.

I think they fit fine, and for single-player testers, they KNOW it fits

Hehe, I used HULKSMACH's smileys!

If they are in Single Player at least make them a Naval power able to contend with the might of the Nordic Long-ships.
Guess it's gonna be a pain to drag this longboats through the desert. [lame_joke]On the other hand they have other "ships of the desert", if you know what I mean.[/lame_joke]

That would be neat, but I think they should get a shield... what's the advantage of throwing weapons if you don't have a shield with them?

It'll still stop people from taking bow, shield, melee and throwing (unless they don't want arrows...) so they will have to make a choice.

Uhhh, sorry? They're in the desert. I don't want to spoil anything, so I'm not saying anything else!!

There isn't going to be any naval combat anyway, unless they changed their minds again.  They said in an interview that it wasn't going to make it in.

Considering that the Arabs who took over the middle east became a considerable naval power, they should be able to if naval combat was in.

@Nord Champion- How are you sure they're always in the desert?

Single-player tester. Thats where they are, in the desert! They could take over castles, but they're not fit to be naval powers, because they're
Not telling anything else!
