Sarranid Campaigns

Just curious to know about others experiences -

My fifth Warband Char is witnessing the same enormous Sarranid campaign armies that all my other chars have. It doesn't seem that the Sarranids strength as an empire has any bearing at all either.

Most recently Hakim declared war upon my Kingdom to regain lost territory. As King and Marshal I moved immediately to counter an invasion and found the enemy in force around Shariz where I shadowed them awaiting my own vassals arrival. I waited patiently till Dawn when the extent of the monster became apparent - approx 16 lords - many 100+ troops in each army - from a faction under constant war on two fronts and severely diminished by two towns. They had managed to summon these numbers for every major campaign they undertook against me!!

What gives? They must have something bonding them together cos if I had their numbers of fiefs and vassals and enemies I certainly couldn't call such enormous campaigns.

That actually sounds great. I have never experienced such campaigns myself. Usually when the enemy comes with ~1000 soldiers, me and the other lords have about the same numbers (and we totally crush them). And those happen rarely from Sarranids, or any other faction that is already at war against someone else.

In my games Sarranids have been so passive... They usually just harrass Rhodoks and occasionally plunder some Khergit villages.

Are you playing Native or do you have some mods?

I dunno, I'm fighting for the Sarranids, and it seems to me that with our incessant warfare against the Khergs and Rhodoks, we fail to bring much power to our campaigns, and my friendly lords scatter at the sight of another campaign army. What's a Caliph to do with no support?
They just run while I and some other lord get left to somehow try and pull through.

Don't get me wrong, we kill them by the hundreds, but we don't have the men to outlast them because our Lords aren't where they should be.

Yeah, the Sarranid numbers are deceptive in my games.  They own all of their cities, but most of the time they're passive, occasionally taking Narra, and engaging in the Shariz/Jamiche Castle tug of war.

Internally, they're bonded by glue.  I have had very poor luck trying to persuade even their fiefless guys to leave (I have this problem with the Kherjit too).

Ya my previous saved game I had trouble recruiting lords from them. We were the last two factions with the Sarranids being pushed back to the center of their original kingdom. Everything else my faction owned. Even then there were 4-5 lords that I had 100 relation with and were Sarranids, they still wouldn't leave. This was in Native.

I've also noticed that Hakim's army seems to be larger than the other kings. In my current game (this one Floris) each king has an army of about 350-450, but Hakim's army is 500-550.

In my previous games, the Sarranids fought little when fighting the Rhodoks. They only capture Jamiche Castle and lose it again in a few days. Rarely, the Rhodoks manage to capture Shariz and hold it.

When the Sarranids were at war with the Khergits, they kept pushing forward, taking Narra as their first conquered city. I also noticed they like to spread out their targets. For example: After taking Narra and ending the war with the Khergits, they moved on to Vaegir lands like Reyvadin.

Heck, they even declare war with the Nords, even when they're not neighbours, and the Nords were not that powerful.

I've never seen the Sarranids achieve anything great in my games. They are always very passive and mostly on defense.
