Same faction heraldic mails

I see all the other AI lords in my faction (Sweden) with the same mail and I was wondering if it's possible to get one as well? Can't find any in the marketplace.

I think there are 3 ways to get the mail

1)  Begin a new game and choose to serve Sweden when asked during the character setup

2)  Use the cheat menu to buy yourself the mail.  I sometimes do this but I don't like cheating.  I justify it to myself by purchasing an equivalent mail coat from the marketplace then going to the cheatmenu and "buy" the coat of mail I really want.  In essence you are just changing the surcoat since the mail is the same quality/price...

3)  Wait long enough and it may appear in some Swedish marketplace.  Not sure about this though

4)  Use the item editor to make the mail available in stores if it's not already enabled

I did do 1). Are you meant to start with one or are you just guessing/assuming?

If it doesn't pop up in the shops I'll probably just use the item editor.

i have NEVER gotten a heraldic faction mail surcoat because i started with a faction. i played every version and i dont believe its ever being there as a feature. you just have to buy one.

I haven't started a campaign serving a faction in a looooooooong time but I remember getting a surcoat in the past (many versions ago).  I just tested this out...began a new game 5 times and never got a surcoat.  I tried choosing different backgrounds but nothing worked...

No, you were right. A long time ago you got a heraldic mail if you joined a faction (every single time you joined a faction), but then everybody complained about it being too op, because you have a high-end mail right from the start and if you sell the things, you would get much money for it, thus it was scrapped and since then you get the gambeson thing.

All heraldic mails can be found in shops, I found plenty of them all over the place, but mails with surcoat are a bit rare in Nordic shops. You could increase the availability of the mail you want though, either via the item editor or in the txt-file itself, it's default at 40% I think - increase it to 100% and it will show up sooner or later in one of the Nordic shops.
