STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl sold 2 million copies... let alone the other 2. And Im not the only one describing him as a money hungry selfish man. He's the reason employees left GSC after all. That and bankruptcy lol

2 million sales is good, but it's not huge like for AAA games. Weighed against the long development time, the profit might not have been overwhelming, especially in terms of sustaining the company through another long development period to make STALKER 2 (presuming you want something more radically different than the two sequels). And if the company went bankrupt, well that shows that they were out of money, doesn't it? Developing another ambitious title when you are going bankrupt is not possible! This Survarium game you speak badly of was not made by GSC, was it? It was made by the company formed after GSC went bust.

Whether or not this Sergey is a selfish guy who made bad decisions, it doesn't sound like making STALKER 2 was financially viable, because the company was bankrupt. Demanding that they make it now, still under the leadership of the guy who seems so against it and presumably without significantly better financial resources than when they went bankrupt, seems futile to me.

also it depends on when people bought those copies.

2 million sales at release (full price) is one thingy.

2 million sales over 10 years and several Steam Sales (or similar offers) at 90% off is another thingy.

https://steamspy.com/app/4500 for [S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl]

Then there is the vendor cut (say Steam got 25%). Taxes. Other expenses. PR, investors, development cost (like paying your team and to keep the lights on), ....

But what I find funny is someone creating a petition for something, and instead of being nice, that person goes around cursing the potential developer. I am sure people reading that will be like: well, he was a ****** dev, so I should sign that for sure! And the dev will be like: hell, that guy sure has passion over my games, I should forgive his harsh words and go work on that game like NOW!

ps.: I played all the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games back in the day. Lots of fun!

I must say, the petition-maker wasn't using the most friendly/polite approach and neither was I. Didn't mean it to sound like "F*ck that guy". After all he is the developer, but he did make some mistakes that basically trashed his fanbase.
