This may or may not be a surprise to you, but there is mass civil unrest in Iran over the phony reelection of Mahmound Ahmandinejad. Originally stated that he won by 60%, disaffected officials have leaked the actual logs of the election. If current reports are true, it turns out he came in third place, behind two of the reformist parties. Regardless, people are pissed, and the Iranian government is responding with force to try and keep things in check. Along with mass arrests, telephone and internet service has been cut, university dorms raided, and even Mousavi, a man on the ballot who presumably won a large portion of the vote, has been placed under house arrest.

Here are just a couple of the links that are trying to keep up to date.

If I was a praying man, I'd pray for our brothers and sisters over in Iran who are fighting against the corrupt, ****-filled regime of Ahmadinejad.

I hope they can riot enough to get that **** out. There's apparently been "real figures" circulating from an inside source where he'd actually only come third.

He's a dictator, what do you expect? It's a real shame though...  I hope they kick the bastard out.

this country is under islamic dictatorship, bear that in mind ppl. Mousavi was a president of Iran (and he's called 'liberal'...) and he didn't change anything. So get some information about that country first ppl. It's religion that's problem in that country, not Ahmandinejad.

WHAT?

don't be stupid...
ever heard of Khomeini? Islamic revolution? Islamic fundamentalism is a most visible ideology in Iranian government.
Edit:sorry, i've mistaken Mousavi for Khatami, he was called liberal reformist, that's my only mistake in that matter.
2nd edit:to give you a guide...do you know WHO is a true leader of Iran? Do you think president? You got it wrong. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supreme_Leader_of_Iran

umm i don't really think that i understand you now...prolly due to my ****ty english...anyways, i'm going home, so till tommorow.

I guess I'm not understanding how people are being naive or ignorant for realizing how rigged the elections are and supporting the protesters.

And none of us are getting involved? No USA or UK or some other military powerhouse helping to topple it?

We're a tad busy.
Besides, Iran is scary. It stands up for itself. We prefer little countries in the Middle East with lots of oil.
