That's just insane. Even for them.

I guess it's more of a test run on a less dangerous rock, so we'd at least know what to do if there's a real threat.

They might as well go and do it, better safe than sorry.

Also, Nuclear weapons would not work in space, amirite?

They would work, however if the nuke were to detonate outside of the asteroid, then too much energy would be expended in the explosion to make a difference.

Though a bit odd, still better that other "good-will" efforts going on today, such as wars to defeat fabricated "terrorists".

Well, it's not like NASA has anything more interesting to offer to the masses. Finally a space program that intends to destroy something!

What about the Death Star.

Perhaps if the collision is already unlikely, if they knock it off it's unlikely course; it could put it on a path straight to earth.

Maybe it's their plan?

How about Russia takes care of **** in their own country first?

But I guess the main idea of this whole thing will strengthen the relations between everyone on Earth.

Well played Russia. I can see the news already.

"First human to walk on asteroid, Russians ninja'd NASA."

You know, sod's law dictates that they alter the asteroid's course the wrong way and kill us all.

Sod's law dictates that the rocket will explode somewhere over Washington.

That would be Putin's Law, not Sod's Law.

Putin is a sod.
