How do I fix This?
Error.jpg

I'm thinking of taking steam away completely its been horrible to me since day 1.

Good idea, I'm starting to sound like a broken record telling people to just wipe steam straight off from their computer. Of the 6 or 7 games I've purchased on it, 1 or 2 worked reliably. I dont even install it on my computer anymore & consider everything I've bought on it lost money.

Now they've ported it to mac, that's a big LOL.

I like purchasing digital copies of games, a good alternative for steam is direct2drive. I haven't had any problems with it, & they give you the plain vanilla installation file generally. Any time you need to install you just log in, download it, & they email you the key. It's handy if you want to play a game when your not on your computer, just don't abuse that though. So far, all the games I've used don't need special patches either (accept for STALKER I think).

I cant stand how you need to be on the net to play games on steam usually. It's so slow with all this verify crap. I've nicknamed it the "steaming pile of crap" lol.

Well for one, it's not Steam. If you actually analyse the problem, you will realize that it's SP's. I had this problem with other games before, try updating your SP's and Direct X drivers. Don't jump on the "Steam is ****" bandwagon, you'll only get thrown off.

Sorry, I know too many people who have had problems with it, and with other games.  Not sure why you would make the above comment unless you work for Steam.....

Well, it's pretty annoying when people decide to blame Steam for every little problem they have. I don't care about Steam, I am just annoyed that players are forgetting to blame the developers rather than the distributors. That is why some devs never pay attention to forums, fingers never get pointed in the right direction.

From what I have seen in this forum, the devs have been named repeatedly.  It remains to be seen as to whether they are listening or not.  I am pretty sure that people aren't just blaming steam for every little problem they have though, I suggest you do some more research prior to jumping all over people's opinions, especially if you have nothing vested in the argument.  Just my $0.02.

Do more research prior to “jumping on people’s opinions”? Haha, you obviously need to read before you type – “I am just annoyed that players are forgetting to blame the developers rather than the distributors.” That was aimed at all developers, not just Taleworld. I know peoples have been blaming Taleworlds, that’s why I didn’t say Taleworld. You obviously missed that.  Secondly - “especially if you have nothing vested in the argument.” Try reading the third post by velocity30, he/she says “I cant stand how you need to be on the net to play games on steam usually. It's so slow with all this verify crap. I've nicknamed it the "steaming pile of crap" lol.” That’s my queue to jump in. I suggest you do more reading before –trying- to jump on my opinion. Anyway, I’ll rather not spam this topic with dispute so just send me a message ;)

Just out of curiosity, why do you like steam so much? There are some benefits sure, but I (and others) have just had too many problems with it in multiple games. I'm not trying to blame everything on steam, but there are problems introduced purely because of steam.

Because steam is cool.

Runtime error... Do you have runtime Visual c++ Runtime library ( the recent version ) installed?

Almost none of my games on steam work. I'm not randomly blaming them.

I've been using Steam for Donkeys, have bought loads of games and they all work fine. The only real problem I had was activating Football Manager 2009, but that was sorted within 24hrs (was preloaded and too many of us FM addicts were trying to activate it within minutes of its release). I also found the steam forums quite helpful with the 1 or 2 minor problems I encountered.

I don't work for Steam, nor does anyone I know.. or own shares in it.. etc etc.

When I first started using Steam I had a low end PC and found steam hogged too much memory but that shouldn't be an issue for anyone with more than 1GB RAM these days.. and if thats the case.. buy some more RAM!!

I would say "Give us your specs" Instead.
We're not gonna saying buy some ram if he does not have a decent computer, that would be stupid ( And when the RAM is old, it's more expensive . )
