Wellenbrecher said:Not directed at Havoc, but I use this as a base to play off, because so many of you folks seem to have the same experience.
So compared to my experience then, you don't have the following:Havoc said:I have OK optimization, OK AI and great combat.
Combat between 40 units is over in 4 minutes. Between 80 in something between 6 and 10.
The combat is zero challenge because of the things mentioned later down below (sorry, added this later and re-ordering everything is too annoying).
AI runs out of food/gold/happiness all the time and is gimped till other nations take over the provinces that cause the most problems, in case of minor nations it means game over.
Related to this, the AI gimps itself very easily because it once more is unable to remove units or destroy buildings.
This once more suggests that even modders won't be able to do something about this (goes all the way back to Rome1 at the very least, maybe even further) because the command simply does not exist.
The AI does nothing on the map, apart from demanding 2/3 of your treasury for a trade agreement or non-aggression pact.
If the AI attacks then it's with three stacks of three units each, maybe two stacks of 10 and 2 once in a blue moon.
Half of the units are unarmoured beginner ranged units.
Melee units don't go higher than "tier 2", a.k.a. the first type you get for building something ever so slightly specialised like the a blacksmith.
In battle the AI is unable to respond to simple flanking manoeuvres because of the lack of melee units.
In battle the AI is usually gimped because they aren't allowed to stray away far enough from the flags.
If there's no flag it rushes you head on.
If your line has mixed spear and sword infantry, the enemy cavalry and especially the general goes for spear, NEVER ANYTHING ELSE. I actually started paying attention to this after I noticed how often the enemy general died somewhere without me doing anything for it and I've yet to see enemy cavalry attack anything but spears ever since.
"Your faction" is a collection of randomly generated guys or adopted folks from the other "factions", i.e. some randomly generated guy. There's no family/faction but a collection of utterly replaceable guys that show up and disappear leaving no trace.
Combine that with "one turn == one year" gameplay and add characters that like to appear at the age of 35, and it's an endless parade of the same name with a slightly different face attached.
Where the **** have the seasons gone?
The nations with the "700 units" are mostly re-skins, apart from the usual suspect Rome.
Rome is OP as all hell, just look at the Praetorians and how easy it is to get them.
And yet it still gets nothing done if AI.
If trying to make the deadline of any of the overall goals for your nation, you essentially have to take a settlement every third turn, in case of the Averni you aren't even allowed to occupy anything you have to raze everything or plunder first and then occupy.
There, should I go on?
Most of these can be fixed by CA. They claim they'll support the game beyond selling you DLC crap that was apparently cut from the game if the Greek factions and Seleucids are anything to go by.
If they do it, great! The fact that they actually admitted to the horrible state of the game in terms of bugs and optimisation on launch is surprising and makes me slightly optimistic that there will be actual support beyond what modders are already doing.
I guess they ran out of space in the forum they move threads that are critical in any shape or form and realised something was up, hah.
That's a true sentiment in a lot of cases but saying that this game isn't flawed on a very basic level of design is emulating the blind, deaf and mute monkeys.Willhelm said:>Highly anticipated game comes out

We see this all the time.
The game has a ****-ton of problems that go beyond simple balance things, optimisation or bugs.
And that's not blind hate, that is someone who played and loved and wasted months of his life on a series of games that are part of half his life, that taught him what modding is, what strategy and tactics are. But tat has also seen a series that got more and more casual while the company was wanking off to how "deep and whatever buzzword was in at the time" is was while making the exact same mistakes over and over and over and over and over and over again. And then they started locking the game up from modding, selling what mods used to do as DLC and claim it to be fan service.
I don't doubt that they'll fix optimisation and general bugs, compare Shogun 2 at launch to what it is now, but the rest?
Wellenbrecher said:- Fehlende Features, Mensch?

Gegner rennt in dich rein, Kavallerie drumrum, hinten rein, Sieg. Oder hatten die Suebi keine Kav? Dann halt mit anderer Infanterie, macht keinen Unterschied.
