It doesn't have to be completely correct, you know. There are probably tons of special weapons made by people who aren't in an army that aren't documented. You can be slightly more creative, and nobody will kill you.

Good work, though.

Plywood, I used 36"x84" Luan plywood thats an 8th of an inch thick, had a steel quarter inch curved form made, glued 3 pieces together cut in half to 42" tall and while they were still wet and strapped em onto the form, left em there for 24 hours to dry, then glued and nailed pine 'screen moulding' to the back for bracing, next I glued linen to the back, and leather to the front, painted the design seen in my pic on it and made the Umbo (Boss), and riveted it on through the wood with square brass washers I made.

that scutum model looks awesome

also.. 954 polys on a weapon, dude?

Insane

Lower that, if you can

take all those nifty handles and just smooth them. and also the recesses in the pommel and stuff. make them with the textures. or don't, because the handles are never really seen in the game

I don't want to sound flame like, but your textures appear to be just standard textures from 3dsmax or any other fully fledged model app. I mean, they look just dull imho. Way too simple.

This might be the best looking items so for in the M&B history, but I am very worried about the polygon count. They doesnt need to be modeled that careful on the handles, even if it looks very nice. It will slow down the game on any machine :???:

Just make the models SLIGHTLY simpler (and delete unnecesarry details) and then...

So... where are these models going? Will you be making an imperial Rome mod or just adding a Roman faction to M&B?

Fair enough. Why not go all the way and make, say, a Rome vs. Gaul mod?

Also, I can't help noticing that this new Lorica Hamata shot is identical to the last one. Did you replace the image at the same URL or what? :???:

Raptor, do you mind actually converting your models to Eagle's Roman mod  , sicne the past roman mod died

Frankly, I think it'd probably be better if RR_Raptor65 made his own mod. Eagle's knowledge of the period seems sketchy at best and historical accuracy doesn't seem to be a big issue for him. Getting together a small team and making a total conversion would be the best solution from the mod consumer's point of view, though.

But hey, your call. I'll download it in any case. Except maybe the Eagle one.

What modelling program do you use? And how do you convert it into brf/ get it into the game?

dirtbag: Thanks for the compliment, but you shouldn't worry about the polycount, even with 30 or so legionaries, praetorians and centurions on-screen wielding various Gladii and Spathae, plus their enemies, the FPS never fell below around 30-40, even on my dying Radeon 9600 (Or it was 30 Romans before we came across some Darkies, but oh was it awesome to see those Knights get cut down by a hail of Pila).

okiN: Well, I'll admit, the most I know of is the equipment of the Legionaries and Auxilia, beyond that, not much else, and what I do know of the Gallic warriors is probably wrong. If someone wants to be my historical advisor on the Guals, hell yeah I'll go all out.

Henderson: I'm not familiar with Eagle's Roman mod, (Truthfully, I only checked the forums by chance and saw people were making models and started making em myself). But from what okiN said, they probably wouldn't fit in since they are meant to be 100% accurate.

Raz: I'm usin Milkshape, but check the 'Unofficial Editors' forum if you haven't already and check the stickies in it.

I've gotten the Clipeus in-game now too, its an ugly beast but it gets the job done, it uses the paintjob and backbracing from my Scutum.
