Hello, I've noticed that on every thread that someone says warband has grown old for them, the first reply always says something along the lines of : "You should roleplay." I used the search function for roleplaying ideas and found one, but when I was about to post it said that it hadn't been posted on for 182 days. So please forgive me. Anyway, as the title says, post all your roleplay characters or ideas here. I'll even start us off.

This is Chukan. He was a sarranid born and raised deep in the desert as a squire to one of the emirs, at his palace. When he became of age, he fought in the Sultan's army as a mameluke. Eventually he rose through the ranks and became the captain of a battalion of Sarranid troops, who were stationed at Jameyedd castle. He and his men fought off many Khergit raiders and Rhodok scouting parties. But one day, as Chuken was patrolling the walls, a vast Khergit horde appeared in the distance. Just by looking he could tell that they would take over Jameyedd easily. Before they could completely encircle the walls, he sent a runner to Durquba asking for reinforcements. As it happened, the messenger he sent was captured by bandits halfway there. Meanwhile, Chukan killed many Khergits, but they were too many and he saw many of his comrades that he had fought with for years die. A blow to the head knocked Chukan unconcious, and when he woke up, he saw Khergit troops pouring through the gates. He quickly got off the wall, stole a horse, and rode away into the desert. Not knowing of the messenger's fate, Chukan believed that the nobles he had served so dutifully had abandoned him. He first resented them, than despised them, and than he hated them. He doesn't hate Khergits though, for he respects his enemies. Betrayers, as he believes the Sarranids to be, he doesn't respect. Now he leads a group of bandits, roaming the desert, who attack any sarranids unlucky enough to cross their path.

Roleplay components: He will have only sarranid troops. He will only attack sarranids. He will not attack caravans belonging to any other faction, for he only hates the sarranids. He will buy all his stolen goods to Halmar, where he has contacts.

Post your Roleplay ideas/characters.

This comes from my tabletop experiences, but I'd say give your character a personality and see how it plays out.  When you start the game, think about his/her past, motivations, likes & dislikes, and long-term goals.

Also, don't just pick your equipment by the numbers.  With Connor, I prefer to use a bastard sword.  Probably not the optimal weapon, but I like 'em anyway.

Hmm...well I tried to buy weapons that all had an eastern look. Except for the awlpike, but I just love awlpikes so much. He used to be as honorable as a trained soldier could be, but now his years as a bandit have hardened him and he has no qualms about anything under-handed.

I did this once

REGICIDE: (for those who do not know what the term means it means the murder of a king)

The point of it is to try to kill a king, yes yes I know you can't kill him actually but here's how I did it.

1.You are not to go near the king for a period of 150 days, that is your preparation period (build up your forces, recruit companions make money)
2. You must fight your chosen king, and you must win 5 times. But thats not all. Each of those times you must knock the king unconsious yourself with a lethal weapon (no warhammers)

So if I wanted to kill Harlaus, I would engage him in battle until I myself killed him 5 times. At that time, I consider the king dead. Then retire.

That's more of a self-imposed challenge, but it's interesting.  In my game, I'm going solo or keeping my party under 20 people.

Not really sure if it is what you are looking for but there is one thing I have been doing lately that a friend had suggested to me.

That is.. making it so your character can actually die. Every time he is knocked out in battle, even if the battle was won he rolls dice.

8-12 (he rolls 2) and you are dead, start over. 1-7 or doubles and you live to fight another day.

More of a self imposed challenge I suppose but it can make things a bit more interesting. For instance I recently abandoned a game that I had nearly conquered the entire map (2 castles left to go) thanks to a Jav to the face in one of my battles. Upon restarting I was quickly killed trying to hunt down a fugitive for Harlaus, and nearly died (yay doubles) in a brawl with a drunk in praven on my third game.

 I salute your willpower. I would never be able to do that.

The "Solid and Shade" mod for original M&B has a chance of dying when you're defeated.

Also, there was a fairly recent thread were someone came up with the idea of turning the difficulty up as high as possible, then, retiring upon your first defeat to see what score you'd get.  I have yet to try it.

There's plenty of roleplay currently going on in the Duck & Spackle Tavern in the Zendar Town Square part of the forum.
Go there if you want to join us.

No one expects the Swadian Inquisition!

On-topic: For roleplaying my infantry chars never raise their INT (espessially, never above 6). That keeps them illiterate, as they're simple but brave commoners; it also mirrors my rather brainless fighting-style!

If that actually occurs in the Eagle and the Radiant Cross then I shall have to download it.

Actually, it was an unique party in an early version for M&B vanilla 0.85 or so, and ít isn't downloadable as far as I know. It has been replaced by 2 succeeding versions (chapter II and III) for M&B 1.011, and one (ch. III) for WB.

So no, it doesn't occur any more.

Dosent youre troops get low moral, when you use same faction troops vs eachother ?

Right now in my role play im a mercanary from the boarders betwen swadia and rhodok, i use the crossbow and a bastard sword, walking at foot with a small group of compnions and right now were living of hunting forrest & moontain banditts, but i might try to get a mercanary deal with a faction, to be included in some real profitble fighting.

Sir Solsetur is a honourable, peace loving lord, but his love and lust to run a kingdom overruns his peace loving nature. His wish is to run a successful and stable empire, and, to keep it interesting, not conquer the other nations.

All I got so far.
