Roast kangaroos: or, Australia's big fire

Even many miles away from the actual fire the air temperature is up to unbearable temperatures, people aren't dying because they drive too slow it is a catastrophe, that's what I've seen in the reports.

Aye, fires can go terrifingly fast. Everyone here in B.C. still remembers the Summer of '03. Those fires would leap kilometres ahead, because of the strong winds, and roar across the dry valley ground. Lost a couple settlements in that fire. Don't know if they're rebuilding, either.

It doesn't beat Australia's right now, though. No one died in our fires.

Vaguely, I am on Vancouver Island, and we hardly have any forest fires here.

EDIT: Although one of my cousins lives south of Melbourne :???: so now I'm a bit worried.

I hope it doesn't get to close to melbourne but the wind isn't good from what I heard. They still keep finding bodies, like whole families burnt to dead still sitting in their cars and the like.

...the real killer is the fumes form burning plastic etc.

Yeah this is a big problem, alot of people would have died from the smoke and fumes.

Most people would like that to be the case, but many of these people weren't so lucky.

A lot probably passed out due to the heat before the fire actually got there too. It's 47C ambient, factor in the heat those fires are pushing ahead of them and you're likely to see people dying of heat exhaustion, even if they're not in the direct path of the fire.

I would be worried. Sydney is in between fires and floods. All I'm worried about is my programming being cancelled due to the once-every-3-second-updates.

Thank god the cool change hit. It was about 46 degrees or something on Saturday, and windy as hell. The change hit and it's been more like 20 ever since.

Nah way, the second series of Underbelly starts tonight. It's a show based on the small amount of serious gang violence in Sydney and Melbourne. The last series had lots of pornlol.

**** Saladin, that's the second time you've done that to me. Disregard this. I don't believe in deleting posts.

I just deleted my post claiming that you didn't want to miss any Speed Racer episodes. You must be upsetting your parents a lot watching heavy programing like that. Yeah **** me, and the horse I rode in on.

Oh and more bad news the death rates are upto 131 now and are expected to get to 200 or more . This is the worst natural disaster for a long time, though I am glad that Sydney/NSW is safe.

They just keep finding bodies. They know more are dead but they just haven't found them all yet as so many are missing.

The thing is the death toll is going to keep gong up and the fire is indeed still spreeding becasue of the wind

As i said I live 20 minutes away, I live in whittlesey so I'm just a 20 minute walk from were the fire is, luckly I livw in the suburbs, but one of my muns friends actually lost there house in the fire.

Do you think you will have to exacuate your area at some point? If fire gets to the suburbs it won't be good. Sorry to hear about your mums friend, did they lose everything or manage to get some of there things?

Sorry my invention went out of hand..It fell into the..hands of them...I am deeply sorry to all the brave Australians who has suffered..Atlease now I know what will happen when I attack France.

It is thought, even by the PM that the fires did not start naturally.
Found and interesting news article:

Don't know how reliable that is though or just overspeculation.

Gods, my mom's in Victoria!

Oh wait, wrong city .

I do remember the fire, actually. Protected by the impregnable sea upon my fortress island, however, we had nothing to fear but stray BC ferries colliding onto our coasts. Good times.

Heh, I lived in Mill Bay when I was there. South of Duncin, if I recall. Geography didn't mean much to me .
