i was chasing down some river pirates to take their vaegir prisoners and sell em. The party contained 12 pirates and 3 prisoners. Low and behold when i started the battle i was facing a few river pirates, some sea raiders, and Swadian knights and swardian men-at-arms. That really confused me. What was up with this? has anyone else had this sort of thing happen?

It's amazing what you sometimes see when parties have been around for a while.

What probably happened was that some swadian patrol was bested by a vaegir group, and the vaegir party wire defeated by river pirates. The prisoners of the vaegir party get transferred to the party of the attacker.

Here's a war party i once encountered.

In fact, it's possible for faction specific units (i.e. Vaegir knights) that did not desert, to end up as prisoners in another vaegir party.

Lol, thats a pretty crazy party. The thing is i am (almsot) sure that it was only river pirates in the party on the world map. Thats why i was suprprised when their swadian men at arms beat up my militia...

That is perhaps the greatest party I have ever seen. Luckily I have never really had anything like that happen to me.

Draegath: I can get Khergit's no problem via the "prisoner" method but Dark Hunters only attack refugees so I can't do anything about them.

Damn... So have anybody any experience with them? I mean, are the Dark Knights obviously stronger than the Swadian Knights or the Hired Blades (personally they feel a lot stronger). Also do Dark Hunters upgrade into Dark Knights?

Khergits, do they upgrade into something special or do they upgrade into Mercenaries like Sea Raiders (man, I felt let down there).

I don't know how you can even acquire Dark Knights unless you take sides (Swadians or Vaegirs) and you capture them.

Hunting for Dark Knights is pretty cool though. They have an acquired taste for Refugees! :D

They seemed to be separate from each other though.

River Pirates
Mountain Bandits
Forest Bandits
Sea Raiders
Khergit Horsemen
Dark Hunters

I know Khergits DON'T upgrade but, Dark Hunters can change into knights. Keep in mind that I've never gotten dark parties but I read somewhere that armagan made Dark Hunters upgradeable.

I think it's Dark Hunter -> Dark Rider -> Dark Knight

Tarrak, their weapons and armor are superior to anything else in the game, but their horses suck. So they're worthless as horsemen, but if you tell them to dismount, you get the deadliest infantry unit imagineable.

Hurray! :D

If you guys REALLY want Dark Hunters to be uber-bastards, I'm sure that Lost-Lamb or someone would be willing to equip them with chargers and beef their stats up or you could just wait for the tools to come out and do it yourself :P. Right now they seem hard enough for most though.

I usually look for refugee parties, they almost always have at least one or 2 darkies prisoner. When i find them, i find some other enemy, have them chase me, then i run awaya nd they attack the refugees instead, then i enter the battle, kill all the fefugess and leave. Then i kill the enemy who has them prisoner. and then i get them
