G'day All,
I've recently accepted the quest were you hunt down the river pirates and have since killed heaps of them yet seem to be making no progress in my quest window, is there something I'm missing or should be doing ? Any help is much appreciated.

I'm not sure exactly how it works, but have you ever went to collect your money? It might only update when you talk to the constable.

u get the money only for the pirates that YOU have killed, not your men.

Just keep doing whatever and the quest will at some point be done.

Galahad, no. Unless I'm misunderstanding you, you've got it completely wrong. You get 50 denars for every river pirate PARTY you destroy, but you don't have to do anything, as long as you or your party are involved in the battle. Then you just go talk to constable Hareck and collect your reward. If that isn't working for you, I have no idea.

Were the parties you were destroying composed purely of river pirates? You may not get credit if you destroy another bandit-esque group which happened to have river pirates.

every party of river pirates that you defeat gives 4% toward the quest being completed. Eventually it will get to 100% if you slaughter enough of those lil bastards.

You are completely destroying the river pirate party, aren't you? And reporting it to Constable Halreck? Hmmmm, if yes, you're doing it right.

One possible reason is that you never officially accepted the quest and so Halreck's not giving you credit. However, that's easily checked by looking at your uncompleted quest list, if it's there then you did accept the quest.

Strange. I've started over a dozen characters who have all done the simple River Pirate Quest without problem and Halreck always pays the 50 denar per party destroyed and the quest always updates to a percentage completed.

If you figure it out, let us know. (Also, post in BUGS forum, if you think it is one.)

Are you using the Mag7 mod by any chance?
I know that you get that problem with the mod. The quest works ok though, it just doesn't update the percentage in the questwindow.

That's a hard thing to miss.

With river pirates, it's rocks thrown and 0 damage 0 damage.

With sea raiders, it's javs, axes, and longbows. 30 damage, 60 damage to horse, horse crippled. Angry guys runs up to you with axe. More of em. 20 damage 40 damage you knocked unconscious.

I have been trying to level up Marnid and Borcha for a while, just letting them go solo against a bunch of river pirates, with their awesome armour and weaponry. Marnid has a courser so he isn't able to run through a bunch of them like borcha on his charger would. That means if Marnid runs into a bunch of them, the courser will get stuck, get killed, and marnid will very slowly be worn down by the hatchets bouncing off his black armour while he's in stunlock. Meanwhile Borcha will smash straight through them wih his charger.

For a change i tried them out on sea raiders. Marnid ran into a bunch of them and with a flash of axes was instantly KO'd. Borcha did the same, and was also instantly KO'd.

Those are the same horses I use for Marnid and Borcha, except they are riding Spirited Courser and Spirited Charger respectively.

I notice Borcha's effectiveness improved when I gave him a Spirited Charger. Prior to this he was rarely landing arrow hits on the Hunter or Courser. Now he gets multiple hits and kills in any engagements.

Thus far Marnid has the edge as a more effective combatant because he started out at a lower level than Borcha, BUT also allowing you more leeway to determine his stats whereas Borcha is a higher level character who already had a lot of non-combat attributes allocated when I sprang him out oif jail.

I have riden alongside Marnid and saw the accuracy and speed he shot his arrows from horseback.
