Is it any good? I remember reading a preview some 4 months back where the author was mighty impressed with what the devs had been planning for the combat system- some sort of advanced collison model where attack animations would vary according to the enemy you're fighting and so on. However, I watched a couple of gameplay vids recently and it doesn't seem very different from the regular slew of hack-and-slashers out there, perhaps apart from the fact that it was based off the Argonauts myth. Rather weird take on the same, though. I noticed Patrokles is Achilles' pimp.

Yepp, doesn't look very promising.

They say the port sucked big time. You might say "You never even played the game, what are you bragging about?". Well, I say it as a former potential customer that didn't see in that game a rason to acquire it.

Thing is, it might not be a very bad game as such- but after all the hype, I think it's more along the lines of disappointing than unplayable or whatever.
The release also seems to be a bit late given that the graphics look pretty dated (although the low system reqs might be a blessing).
I had high hopes on this, given that almost all the PC games I've seen in an ancient setting are RTSes- would have been fun to see a good action game with an ancient greek theme. The oly other one I can think of is Titan quest, and it was a point and click Diablo clone IIRC.

just watching the Achilles video made me vomit...played the demo and it's just boring and stupid. :/

The achilles video cracked me up
"you're as slow as frozen honey!"
Yeah, real snappy dialogue
it was even more hilarious when it turned out the black-robed announcer was patrokles
Ah well, I guess I'll stick to TPW.

I played the PC version. It's not bad. The action is pretty brutal and fun, if a bit simplistic (There aren't really any button-mashing combos a la Ninja Gaiden or God of War). However, there's not much fighting, as most of the game is spent running around NPCs like Mass Effect. Honestly, the game reminded me a lot of Mass Effect, only not as good and with crappier dialogue.

Decent game, finished. There are not many games of this kind set in that era.

The combat system even tough it doesnt have any super combo or something is pretty nice.
What dissapointed me is the dialogue system. Whatever decision you make you still come to the same outcome. For example I was playing with somebody (forgot her name) kid a game in mycenae. If I lost I had to pay all his debts. Lost the first time. If I lost again then I would have to talk to his boss and tell him good things about him. I lost again but the thing is I still had him to do what I actually needed to. Didnt had to talk about him to his boss or anything.

Whatever decision you make you will still get to the outcome you need for your Quest wich makes it quite... boring.

Also the game could had been longer since 4 citys and Tartarus arent really that much. The only boss that I cound't kill from the first time is the final boss. (Jason uncle)

Where Achilles and Patrokles on the Argo?

I don't remember them from the book

It's a very, very loose interpretation of the Argonauts story (especially since there are multiple conflicting version of the story).
