As I said in  the awestruck or astonished thread I'm surprised they actually executed him. It's not the first time he was purged.

All those other times he escaped execution during purges reminds of that French politician that survived start to end for the whole french revolution and subsequent reign of terror.

Oh god. My is going back to his Cold War days. He just brought out a bunch of dated North Korean propaganda photos of the family, and is looking at their position to Kim Jong-Un, who has left and appeared, etc. Apparently he and all his friends did this for fun in the 70's with Russian government officials and such.

I'd say early signs on collapse, but then I would be that guy who says that about every single piece of news from an isolated dictatorship.

"The USSR has developed the atomic bomb."

"They're prioritizing weapons development while their economy is suffering, early sign of collapse."

A remarkably stupid move that does not bode well for the country or its leader. So much for this being a chance for the North to reform. Looks like the son is going to make the same stupid mistakes as the father and grandfather did. But hey, it's not like he really gives a **** about what's good for his country - just what's good for him.

You don't understand. What is good for the Great Leader is good for the Country. They are one.

He's just getting rid of powerful people threatening his rule. Seeing that his uncle was connected with moderate policies, we may jump to a conclusion he'll continue with hardline policies. But nobody really knows and we'll simply have to wait and see.

The man was a traitor and deserved to die

If the guy was such a problem, couldn't Fatso just make him disappear, or suffer a hunting accident?  Maybe His Chubbyness wanted to make a show of power to his other generals.

I thought this was the uncle who helped consolidate power for the young tub of lard. If so junior has a strange way of rewarding those who help him.

Would be really interesting to see why he was executed and why it was made this public.
In any case, IMO it could very well be a sign that little fatty isn't as secure in his power as he wants the world and his countrymen to think.
Well that, or the complete opposite

I wonder what's gonna happen if Un dies? Does he have an heir? Because let's face it he's more likely to go full Kronos and eat his babies than raise them.

According to NK state media (most fair and balanced in all the world), he was plotting a military coup.

Well yeah, but doing your laundry is a form of coup in North Korea. Cleanliness is for filthy American pig-dogs. Speaking of which...

Do North Koreans know that the rest of the world is populated by humans? I mean they clearly know there are other nations out there, but do they know they're not the only people? Like, do they just think America is full of orcs or something?
