Riots in Birmingham

Under Thatcher the preferred technique was a charge by the mounted constabulary followed by a general advance of the riot squad to mop up stragglers. That's assuming they didn't deploy the SPG to take care of the leaders. Course, that was before the community policing bull****, but then they had proper riots back then too.

Whacking people who are clearly not doing anything in the face with a shield isn't cricket.
You must play some pretty ***** version of cricket. A cheeky bat in the nadgers is a nice bit of cricket.

Arch, mabye we could find a way to replace the water in the fire hoses with vodka, cuase a riot and then the vodka will just make it more agreessive.

Nah, this is the British police. They'd replace the vodka with water as soon as they realised they could sell it for profit on the black market and hope nobody noticed.
It's like the black market for cigarettes. They keep running advertising campaigns about how they're fuelling organised crime, but what they neglect to tell you is the biggest sellers on the black market are HM Customs & Revenue and HM Police. Actual organised crime gangs are lucky to get a foot in the door these days.

Well PSNI officers do but not so sure about England. Then again English officers don't have to worry about Republican activists from starting up troubles do they?

The only English police I've seen with guns were ones in airports following the aftermath of some bombing or other.

Unless I died and my body was mysteriously abducted to there.

I've never been to the U.K. But at least I'm proud to say I'm an American who has left their country.

Um... congratulations? Well done on posting something entirely irrelevant to what I said?

London's not so bad. I saw a whale when I went!

Nono a real whale! In the Thames!

You mean the one that died of stress because they couldn't get it out in time? :\

In other news, I've seen Common Dolphins off Cornwall.

Yup, that's the one. We saw it swimming while sitting in traffic along the river.

Didn't someone once say " When a man grows tired of London, he is tired of life"?

Samuel Johnson. But he was from Lichfield, so he'd probably have been just as happy with a hedgerow and a pub that stayed open after 7 PM. Besides, most people put it down to his Tourette syndrome.
