Right Clicking on an moving object on map follows but does not cause interaction

When I'm following a lord, a caravan, some dirtbag sheep tupping bandits, the marshal or the king, sometimes I just want to run behind them without interacting or zigzagging or clicking around or hitting space. And since I'm generally faster (BORCHAAAA!), well, I usually end up having to diddle around when I really just wanted to follow their trek across Calradia.

Let me right click the movable object in question to chase after it, but when I catch up I automatically slow down and stay behind. That way it's not this irritating back and forth to do something so simple.

And allow me to select in the options menu what happens when they choose to wait somewhere -- either the game pauses, or it just waits for them to start moving again. I could see either being handy, and I'd like to swap between them.

A good idea, I like it! Also if you lose the party you're following, the game should pause. And if the party is attacked.

I would say it would be better for you to just have the game continue playing and not pause, if you want to pause at the point where the party you are following has stopped you can just pause manually by pressing space.

Also a similar request was made in this thread although it didn't specify the same method as suggested here:

I might be trying to follow a group that is going into battle, or a caravan stopping at a city, in which case when they stop and fight or enter the city I'd want the game to pause so as to check the odds or go in myself. Or I might be following a group that is wandering around patrolling, in which case I wouldn't want the game to pause every time they decided to wait around.

And since both would be useful at different times, it'd be nice if they were both available to choose between.  Why prevent players from picking their preferred option?

I made my own thread without noticing that one, but I figure since my proposal has more detail on implementation and uses, it might be more helpful.
