Rhodok Trade Routes

Well after my blundered attempt at a revolution in Swadia (Nords made peace literally 1 in-game hour after I rebel. Ragar was probably laughing his @$$ off :) ) I have decided to try the Rhodoks. I rarely spend any time in the eastern portion of the map so I'm curious what people do for good trade routes in that region?

Thanks,

Jec

Jelkala is a good place for velvet. It normally costs about 900 or so, but you can sometimes find the price with about 500.

Veluca Sells wine, sometimes as low as 50 per jug, best if sold to the Sarranids (Ahmerrad @ 387).
Veluca buys velvet @ 953+
Veluca buys Tools @ 430.
Veluca is good for building a Velvet weavery in (the town produces raw silk and dye)
Veluca buys Iron @ 300+

Jelkala sells velvet at lower than 750
jelkala buys salt @ 290
Jelkala sell fish @ 30
Jelkala buys Iron @ 350
Jelkala buys tools @ 450+
Jelkala buys linen @ 300+
Jelkala buys spice @ 850
Jelkala buys wool cloth @ 350.

Yalen buys velvet @ 990+

Yalen buys tools@460
Yalen buys wool cloth @ 370

That is from what I managed to observe so far, hope it helps.

Thanks for the help guys, i"ll try some of these out. I also never noticed the compass; I just assumed north was "up" and the map defaults to the Vaegirs on the top of the map.

Thats exactly true. Vaegirs are north. Thus Rhodoks are West. Khergits are east. Sarranids are south.

learn your cardinal directions please.

Apart from the compass: there is a standard angle when you start the game, with the right directions. Rotating the screen afterwards manually doesn't make south north. ;)

Nords are north-west, Vaegirs are north-east, Swadians are west and central, Khergits are east, Sarranids are south-east, Rhodoks are south-west.
Anything different is just a rotated screen.

but its MY rotated screen! Its all relative...

Hilarious! So when you turn on the spot, does Australia suddenly become part of the Northern Hemisphere, eh?

The whole point of cardinal directions is the fact they are not relative.
You might want to reconsider that. A dude told me to go **** my sister once. Clearly, he was giving me carnal directives w.r.t. a relative. Or what happens if you ask the portier at the Vatican the way to the office of your brother, who happens to be high in the church hierarchy? You'd be asking for the directions to a cardinal relative. QED.

Extending on YENKO's info, I'll list below my usual trade routes.

When low on cash this is a good way to warm up:

1- Jelkala: buy Fish for ~30d, as much as you can pay or hold
2- Veluca: sell Fish until the price lowers to ~70. Buy Wine if ~250. Buy Olives if ~60d
3- Jelkala: sell Olives (~100d, hopefully not eaten). Buy Velvet if ~600d. Buy more Fish if ~30d.
4- Shariz: sell the rest of Fish (~100d), sell Velvet (~900d). Buy Date Fruits ~50d. Sell Wine~400d.
5- Jelkala: sell Date Fruits ~130d.

Rinse and repeat. You can go directly from #2 to #4 if you like, or skip Veluca entirely and just go for fish/dates, which is very profitable and most of the people don't seem to notice.

For longer, more profitable routes you follow the same steps as above (from 1 to 3) but extending it to this:

1- Shariz: sell Fish _only_ if ~100d. Sell Velvet _only_ if ~900d. Buy Date Fruits ~50d. Sell Wine _only_ if ~400d.
2- Durquba:  same as above
3- Ahmerrad: same as above. You should probably have sold all your inventory by now. Buy Iron if ~70d, all you can get for that price, but make sure you keep at least 600d in your pocket. You can also wait to get the Iron in your way back to avoid the excessive load, but you risk losing a good opportunity if you do so.
3a- Bariyye: You can deviate here to buy Salt ~40d to sell it in Ichamur or Tulga later. I only do that if I'm low on cash at that point for some reason.
4- Tulga: sell all the Date Fruits ~110d. Buy Spice ~500d. You may need to camp a while in order to get that price. Just pay attention to the farmers going into the city. Once they all head out check the price of spice, as it'll be lower. Beware that if any caravan goes in the price will go up. Don't waste too many days there, though. It's better keep moving and make cash elsewhere than waiting for the golden deal forever.
4a- Ichamur: If for some reason you're low on cash at this point you can always buy Salt in Tulga and sell it here. Just remember that you can miss a good opportunity while you weren't tracking the price of spice.
5- Ahmerrad: sell Spice if ~900d. Buy Iron if ~70d. Now you decide. Depending on your load and money you can repeat 4 and 5 or go to the next step.
6- Durquba: sell Spice if ~900d. Sometimes it's this city and not Ahmerrad the one with the best deal.
7- Shariz: Buy Date Fruits if ~50d
8- Jelkala: sell Date Fruits ~130d. Sell Iron ~350d. Sell whatever you didn't sell in other cities. Be a happy and filthy rich rhodok.

Also, setting an Ironworks in Jelkala using this route is extremely profitable (~970d/week). Just fill your workshop with all that 70d iron and sell the rest to the city. Once its inventory is filled the maintenance is minimal, and you'll be able to survive a war with the Sarranids as long as your inventory is half full. That's also the only city where setting a workshop other than the usual Silk one is actually profitable. Not to mention Jelkala is the city where the need for iron and tools seems to be never-ending, offering the most stable prices to be found anywhere (350d for iron, 450 for tools).

That's what works for me, anyway.

EDIT: Forgot to specify the Wine sale points
