Have you played a game recently that you would like to share with the community?
Feel free to post long reviews or very short reviews where other gamers can check your rating for the game in question. A very short review should be structured the following way:

Game Title: Company Of Heroes Gold Edition

Genre: RTS
Quick review (optional): I won't go into a full scale review here.

Gameplay: 75%
Has some highly intuitive gameplay mechanics such as off the map reinforcements, deployable defences such as bunkers, barbwire and sandbags, forward reinforcement points and MG emplacements. Unique resource capture mode that involves taking strategic areas in order to accumulate manpower, munition and strategic points. Serious balancing issue with rocket mounted Sherman tanks that can take the fun out of skirmish mode when playing as Germans. Also features destructible buildings which is great fun and presents some tactical elements.

Sound: 85%
The sound is great and varies depending the distance from gunfire for example.

Graphics: 89%
Graphics are extremely well done and one of the big pluses for the game.

Replayability: 60%
Features a skirmish mode with AI and other online players, however I am a little annoyed at the balancing issues. Also has a map editor. To be frank though given the balancing issue I don't see myself as loading up the game that often given more engrossing alternatives.

Atosphere/Engross value (optional): 60%
Can be quite engaging as graphics, gameplay and sound come together in a slick package, however the options of skirmish, multiplayer and the single player is the standard norm with a limited amount of maps to play on. I am someone who gets bored pretty easily and somehow I do see that the novelties within the game could wear off pretty quick if your not a big RTS fan.

Overall: 73.8%  (all 5 values divided by 5)
Overall value I would have given without calculating: 70-75%

Also feel free to write longer reviews.

I have written one a short time ago for Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943
You can read that review along with pics at : http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,139395.0.html

Genre: RTS/TBS

Gameplay: 85%
The gameplay in APK is mainly based on a realism approach. Fittingly there are often longer periods of dull calm that are dotted with intense fire fights as men scramble for the cover of buildings, foxholes, trenches and shell holes or just plain run away and surrender. The gameplay itself can be highly rewarding although a save feature for the tactical in-game map would have been welcome as individual battles can last well over twenty minutes. The deformable terrain is a big boost to the gameplay given that soldiers can dig trenches and shells will leave craters of varying sizes. The AI is alot smarter then most games, I would have to say it ****s all over the total war AI on the 3d battle maps. Although it would have been nice to see the AI do larger more co-ordinated attacks. yet it has a tenacity for wearing my forces down. This is not a game for an impatient player and it certainly is not a game for someone who prefers to use rush tactics and feel no consequential difference to using such tactics, especially when ambushed by the enemy. The learning curve is not high but the interface is not 100% user friendly. This is a small issue but I do recommend a read through the short manual.

Sound: 60%
The sound isn't great. Its fairly realistic but lacks the punch of other RTS titles. This is however  completely forgivable given the major strengths in its other areas.

Graphics: 69%
Again graphics arn't great, but I find they surpass those of Theatre of War 2 in the way the graphics generate a heavy and cold Stalingrad movie feel.

Replayability: 70%
There are only a few campaigns to choose from, but, given the AI and the scenario editor, you can pretty much replay any campaign and try different tactics at your leisure. There is room for improvement here and I would have loved to see more than just Kharkov but given the size of the map and the fact that battles rarely take place in the same area on each map as before, and the fact that victory points on the map are randomly placed (with some exceptions), I would give the replay value an extra points of consideration.

Atosphere/Engross value (optional): 85%
I found myself extremely engrossed in the gameplay, the maps and the also the projectile calculations for vehicle impacts, I loved watching crew members run out of tanks burning and being able to review where shots had penetrated the tanks armor and how many crew members survived or died. In once instance I looked inside a T-34 front window to see a dead driver. The realism in that area is

I'll add more reviews if this thread catches on otherwise I'll let it die.

Scoring reviews is idiotic.

I have completed statistics in my masters degree for business administration.

So don't concern your little noogin off about all dem fancy numbers.

Tuckles 说:
Rej, what's your baseline for the percentages?

0-10 ****
10-20 Crap
20-30 Needs serious work
40-50 outdated
50-60 Fair
60-70 fairly decent
70-80 Pretty sweet
80-90 I have an erection
90-100 My pants are wet

I think everyone will have their own baseline, the reason I wanted to make this topic is so that I could get ball park percentages from users for certain games. Please do not be afraid to review something that's already been reviewed as variation in opinions is appreciated.

There is obviously no way that a percentage will be an accurate depiction or reflection of how much enjoyment you will get out of the product. To get a better idea, the reviewer would have to list the games that he or she likes so that you can see whether your preferences coincide, and even then it won't be accurate.

So if this thread takes off and we can see some users make more than one review then we can get an idea of what games the reviewer likes vs what games the reviewer dislikes and see if they fall in line with our expectations.

Yet again be aware that reviewers may choose to review only games they like or dislike.

Game Title: Red Dead Redemption

Genre: Third-Person Shooter / RPG
Platform: X360

Gameplay: 85%
Despite being a shooter on a console, the controls are surprisingly intuitive. It isn't hard to aim at something even at fully manual control. As for the game itself, the combat AI is pretty good. Generally, the firefights are very fun, with the AI taking cover when they need to. There are some flaws though. They don't get smarter, but there are a lot more of them, so later gunfights start to become boring. The firefights in the main storyline don't suffer from this problem as much though, and you'll find yourself taking your time when accomplishing a mission. The main storyline itself is very fluid, it doesn't feel like a chore and progresses very quickly. Sometimes, it can feel too quick, and you notice that you haven't accomplished any secondary objectives in a long time. As for the secondary objectives, the game comes with a truckload of them; ranging from hunting down rare wildlife to rescuing hanging men. There are a few bugs and missing features, and sometimes, because the game world is quite vast, they can feel scarce. The bugs themselves aren't big problems though. Nothing rebooting the game won't fix, though one feature, train robbing, on the PS3 is lacking in the X360. Overall, the game is very engaging, and, despite its quirks, you'll find it hard to put down the controller.

Sound: 92%
The soundtrack is quite catchy, and it sounds very much like a western, if a little spaghetti. The voice acting is superb, and the explosions, as far as I know, are realistic.

Graphics: 87%
Playing this in HD is great, although there are some quirks and clipping, it's hard to notice when you're engrossed in the scenery. The PlayStation 3's graphics should be an improvement.

Replayability: 65%
The game itself, despite being an open world, is very linear. The morality system has very little overt consequences, so you won't much notice them, and over the course of the missions, you actually manage to unlock quite a few things. There are some decisions to be made, but mostly, the game is only worth playing through once or twice.

Atosphere/Engross value: 97%
The atmosphere of the game is brilliant. The soundtrack blends well with the surroundings, and the graphics and voice acting make it seem like they are almost real people. The gameworld is populated with a goodly cast of characters, with the non-important ones being faceless enough that you don't notice (until they start repeating what they said on the other side of the world) that they're being reused. The gameworld itself lends a hand in building the atmosphere, with random events such as coach robbery, ambushes and escaped convicts. They can seem rather repetitive at times, and the bandit hideout system breaks the immersion slightly (suddenly the gang you wiped out 3 days ago is back to full strength), but it's generally a gorgeous world that you can really get sucked into.

Overall: 85.2%

Not sure what arbitrarily assigning numbers to subjective perceptions of a medium has to do with statistics, but ya know, whatever.

Sigh... you could have at least used your imagination...

Calculate the bloody mean and standard deviation for the total overall scores of each product and also find out if there are any extreme outliers.

P.s. I really don't give a **** I just say the first thing that comes to my mind to piss off people who claim that other peoples perceptions are useless while throwing a hefty chunk of their own perception in my face. Wvu bai! jk.

EDIT: Cheers Tuckles I am definately getting that when/if it comes to PC although the replayability value scares me a fair bit

I guess it's because I'm very obsessive when it comes to RPGs. I just have to do everything that can be done.

I don't really care either. I just don't understand how something that can't be measured is expected to adhere to a numerical scoring system. If you can't collect objective data, all the statistics in the world don't matter. And really? Sound carries the same weight as gameplay? And what is the tangible difference between 92% and 88%?

Oh well. I'll stick to medicine, and let you have your administrating.

You assume perceptions cannot be measured by what state of reasoning? Many studies in various fields thrive off measuring consumer/user responses and therefore perceptions. in most cases however there tends to be a control group.

You presume that this thread is set up to collect scientific data when all it sets out to do is get a basic ballpark figure of user perceptions via a usual pc game scoring system. My Goodness you must be a droll dull person to hang around. Yes I made a joke about my being superior due to a completed study in statistics and good lord you had to play my game of one-up-man-ship on a serious note.

Sound carries the same weight as gameplay
That is in the eye of the beholder, if I wanted to compile an excel sheet I could set weights for each variable, but hardly seems to be a point given the purpose of the thread.

If you can't collect objective data, all the statistics in the world don't matter.

Oh well.
That is correct, but if you haven't already noticed by my flippant behavior, no one gives a ****e to make a discussion of it.

I'll stick to medicine, and let you have your administrating.

Please do, now review or GTFO.

Ah, nice thread you have here. What should I review... Men of War, Left 4 Dead 2 or Minecraft?

All of them if possible, or any of your choice if not  If this thread takes off I am going to use the search function within the thread to get user reviews before purchasing future products. or at least see if someone from taleworlds has reviewed it. I am going to add a few reviews over the next few days for: Theatre of War 2, EU3 (HTTT), HOI3 (SEMPER FI), Assassin's Creed 2,  ARMA2 (OA), Close Combat Arnhem.
