[Resistance] Avalon: Minions of Mordred Win!

Rundown of the game

The most important rule is that discussion is always possible and there should be loads of it.

1) The player who is the Quest Leader forms a mission team for the upcoming quest. (The size of the teams differs between quests, but that will be known at the time).

2) After allowing some time for discussion, the Quest Leader calls for a vote. This should be done by the player stating "I call for an official vote" with the text made red or lime-green so that it is easily visible to all players and host. No more posting is allowed after that and every player must PM The Host ASAP with a rejection or approval for the mission team. Note that these votes will be displayed in public.

3) The Host will post the votecount and posting will be allowed again.
The majority of votes have to be in favor, otherwise the mission team is rejected. If the vote is a tie (for example, 5 approvals and 5 rejections) then a majority has not been reached and counts as a rejection.
If the mission team is rejected, the next player in line becomes the Leader and we go back to step 2.
If 5 mission teams for the same mission are rejected, the Minions win (because the Knights are too disorganized to be able to put up any resistance at all).

4) If the mission team is approved, the players that have been chosen to be on the team will secretly submit to The Host if they either Support or Sabotage the quest.
Knights must always choose to support (even if this is redundant for Knights whilst playing on the forum), to prevent any meta-gaming. If you are a Minion of Mordred, you may opt to sabotage or support.

5) The Host will post how many Supported or Sabotaged the quest, but the players won't know which player choose to do what.

6) Most quests will fail if even 1 person sabotaged the quest, but a select few need 2 sabotages for the quest to be sabotaged.
If the quest succeeds it will count as 1 quest won for the Knights and if it fails it counts as 1 quest won for the evil Minions.
Regardless of success or failure, the next player in line becomes the leader and we start anew at step 1 until one team has won 3 quests and are thus declared as winners. However…

7) There is one character, Merlin, who knows the identity of the Minions of Mordred at the beginning of the game. If the Knights win, the Minions have one chance left. They will be given a strict 24 hour deadline to discuss amongst themselves via PM who they think ‘Merlin’ might be. If they can guess the identity of ‘Merlin’ then they can assassinate him and win the game. This means that the ‘Merlin’ character has to be very careful about what they say in the game, to prevent the Minions from guessing his/her identity. This does not, however, mean that the player who is ‘Merlin’ should remain silent. If the Minions are unable to decide on who ‘Merlin’ is, or do otherwise not submit a vote to The Host, the game is automatically forfeit.

Extra rules for Forum Gameplay

1) As mentioned before, after the leader calls for a vote there shall be no more posting until the votecount has been posted.

2) No removing or editing of posts

3) NEVER talk about the game outside of the game thread. Minions will know who their fellow Minions are, but are likewise NOT allowed to talk outside of the game thread. There is no collaboration or discussion via PM.

Quest 1 - The Dandy Highwayman

The Quest - Mordred has sent one of his foul minions to rob the loyal subjects of King Arthur as they travel betwixt their home counties and Camelot. Worst amongst their number is The Dandy Highwayman, a lowborn brigand who dresses in finery to lure decent ladies with his charms, and then takes their jewelry and their favours. Not only is this thievery serving to line Mordred’s coffers, but it is shaking the faith of the nobles in their Lord and King.

Two noble knights are asked to volunteer for this quest to put an end to the Dandy Highwayman, permanently.

Lord de Calverly is understandably upset, and as he is one of Arthur’s most ardent supporters, the King has promised to do everything within his power to see the Lady de Calverly and her son returned safely.

Three brave knights are asked to volunteer for a daring rescue.

Quest 3 - Beast-slayers

The Quest - Word in the town square is that some fell beast stalks the forest and moors around Avalon, killing cattle and sheep indiscriminately, taking human lives when it can. Villagers, now too scared to roam at night, lock themselves in their hovels and whisper frightened stories of some terrible fiend, red-eyed, tall as a horse, and with claws that can score through solid stone. Each morning, at the site of the killings, odd prints are found; prints which belong to no man or beast known in the kingdom. Under pain of torture, the local fool has confirmed that this is not a hoax on his behalf.

Three knights are needed to investigate this beast and to slay it if it can be found, for there is little doubt that Mordred is somehow behind this carnage.

Just a heads up - I know this game is supposed to be less spammy than WW and it shouldn't be a big deal, but I do not know how much time this week I will be able to put into the game as I still have final papers/projects to finish and job-hunting to do before graduation in two weeks. Which probably means if I will end up in this thread while a) tipsy from drinking my pain away, b) sleep-deprived from staying up to the wee hours of the morning (probably debugging code), or c) a combination of the two.

Yeah, we all know this is just your excuse to lurk and avoid giving you fellow spies away.

*pfft* If I was going to use an excuse to lurk and be useless, I would just claim to be trying out "Neoxardobism."

I accept the useless part, but anyone who lurks while Neoxardobing is doing it wrong. You can't create chaos and be openly annoying if you stay quiet.

Eh, I don't suppose we can do anything like the joke voting for this game? These games are just so much more easier when you know villain from page one.

Do feel free to put me on the mission team, Grimm.

"When you know villain from page one"
What do you mean?
As for joke-voting, you can make jokes all you want but voting is not gonna happen until grimmend selects a team.

*a villain

And I'm just referring to how easily people give themselves away early on in WW:

Ok, let's start some discussion.

The first thing that comes to mind is how much more difficult things are for the resistance when there's an odd number of players, especially in the later missions. So keep that in mind those who like to approach this from the math standpoint.

Also, only two players in the first mission makes our first decision a lot more straight forward. This means Grimm is basically choosing his partner. The only team I would reject out of hand now would be Grimm and Aust. Aust is the next team leader and I don't think that much overlap is good for us to determine everyone's role.

The only way I see this getting resolved in a fair an dignified manner is by a competition.  First person to bring me a shrubbery gets to be my second.  :iamamoron:

How about I fall down on my knees and worship you like a diety?

This is fair, I hadn't checked the leader list beyond Grimmend.

Therefore, I would like Sootshade and Grimmend on the first team.

:iamamoron:

As all players have now checked in, it's time to start seeing some of that fine shrubbery!

That is probably a good options anyways because I am the last person on the leader roster, allowing for (potentially) less future overlap? Still not sure what the best strategies for this game are.
