Rescuing a companion from a friendly castle?

So here's the situation. I pissed off a neutral lord when I really shouldn't have. He took me and my companions prisoner. I escaped, they're still in his castle. I go to the castle, ask to speak to a prisoner. Guard tells me to get permission. Demanding keys was an option, but I decided to wait. I enter the hall area. Speak to a random noble (lord isn't there) he gets me to join faction as merc. Go back outside, ask who's in there. He tells me. Ask to speak to a prisoner. "Of course, go ahead." There's no option there to demand the keys. I tried killing him, it doesn't work. I've tried leaving and coming back, doesn't work. He just lets me in every time and then the prisoners ***** that I don't have the key. Halp? Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Also, the people who run this forum should realize by now that email registration is a ****ing pointless annoyance. Worried about spam? Use a captcha. Which you already do. Not like email confirmations actually prevent anything anyway. It's completely useless. I realize that there are other features that email allows, but those can always be optional. All you're doing is pissing people off with this pointless bull****. Christ. Thank FSM for trashmail I guess.

sorry, but sounds to my like you're stuck.  you will probably need to be hostile to the faction in order to free your friend.

I could rescue my companions if the faction is neutral.
I got captured by the Sultanate while we were at war. Soon afterwards, we made peace. I could go to the castle where my companions were held, and broke them free by beating the prison guard for the keys.

Did you use the latest patch?

Yeah, latest patch. Damn. Oh well, guess I'll renounce my merc contract thing. Thanks. Anyone know how to do that exactly? I don't remember having the option last time I talked to the king.

i presume if you wait a few days you would get asked to pay again.

I was never asked to pay in the first place though... The faction was neutral when the lord kicked my ass if it makes a difference. I insulted him. Said he was a horse or something.
