Greetings. I'm not of very active member of M&B's community, however I personally really enjoy playing NA mod since it's release. Yet in art piece, which this mod is, there is a some irritating issue for me, which I want to end by posting this petition: the Veagirs and their "renessaince army". I understand, that armies and military for major factions tend to be rather similar (except slightly for Sarranids) to each other, but Vaegir forces should be equipped different than in current state as this faction represents East European countries (mostly Poland and Russia) in M&B series. I've a idea/suggestion how Vaegir army in NA should looks like and will be very glad if "renovation" would be implemented.
My idea divides in three variants:
a) Vaegir army could looks like Polish-Lithuanian from real history. It was historically divided on two "autoraments" (sections/sorts/contigents), national (trained and equiped by eastern methods) and foreign (western/german style). Since foreign autorament was introduced in 1633, it is easy to use national one for stage II army and foreign for stage III.
For national autorament I'd use:
- The Hajduks or Polish Model Infantry (hajducy/piechota polska) - introduced by king Stephen Bathory (on throne since 1575) as royal and high leadership's guard this formation became popular among high nobility (magnats) personal armies (some of them were larger than regular ones). They were equipped with arquebus, berdiche and saber.
Here's an example how they looked like:
- The Chosen Infantry (piechota wybraniecka) - drafted from peasents from royal estates, regulary equipped, uniformed and trained. Divided on arquebusiers/musketiers and pikemen (as opposite to Hajduks, who were only arquebusiers).
Equipment:
Pikeman:
Shooter:
- Cossack Cavalry, (do not confuse with Steppe Cossacks, it was a competely different unit) - light (later medium armored with mail and helmet) cavalry used to help Hussars during charge.
Early version:
Later (of course they used horses as well):
- Hussars - I think that they do not need an explaination:
While for foreign one:
- The German Model Infantry - trained and equipped, as also organized by western standards, these soldiers (musketiers and pikemen) were also called as Foreign Model Infantry.
Musketiers:
Pikemen:
- Dragons:
and Reiters (for example a Swadian copy).
b) Army will use Muscovite/Russian units.
c) They'll be mixed.
Thank you from advance for responds.
