reputation with the cities?

Hey, I was wondering what your reputation with the large cities actually does.  I know rep. with villages increases the number of recruits and their skill, but with cities, the merc's in the tavern seem to be random no matter my reputation with the city. Does the merchant stuff become cheaper the more they like me?

its always good to have good rep with a city that means even when your enemy u cna still enter

hmm ok, i normally just try to enter the enemy towns and when they attack you I just fight them.  Once they're all knocked out you can access the city freely.

I also thinking that the guild master missions increase the towns prosperity and in turn I get more in taxes...im about to run some of the missions to see if my prosperity goes up
