SP - General Replay Feature

Some of you might know me, I run a YouTube channel called MattsFiefdom.

I'd like to request the addition of a Replay Feature that works with online battles and custom servers.

In practice, this means the option to "Save Replay" after any match, and have the ability to go back and rewatch it with the usual play, stop, fast forwards/backwards, etc.

Why is this useful? Myself and the many Bannerlord content creators out there currently have to get all our footage in one take. In practice this means:
  • We can't play if we're recording top-down spectator footage.
  • If we miss something epic, that's it. It can't be reshot.
  • Our videos just aren't as good as they could be. We'd love to get the best angles/shots of every battle, but have to work with what we get in real time. We want to paint Bannerlord in the best light possible.
Just imagine the footage/screenshots we could take with such a feature.

This may seem somewhat self-serving, but the advantage to the wider Bannerlord community is better video content, better bannerlord promotion, and likely more people playing the game as a result.

Cheers guys! Let me know your thoughts

Edit: I've been made aware that Taleworlds did actually tease such a feature in the War And Peace #3 Update.

My hope is that either:
  • This feature can be completed and released.
  • Or simply released in its current unpolished form. We're happy to work it out

...I haven't test it so take as it is:...

"press L in game to go to spectator free camera, your character will be controlled by AI and you still can command from the sky"

"RTS CAMERA mod"

Main Features
- Birds Eye View ("RTS") Camera -> "F10"
- Mod settings menu (every hotkey is there) -> "L"
- Control ally on death
- Slow time / Speed up time
- "NEW": highlight selection/target formations (migrated from Command Module)
- "NEW": select highlighted formations with Middle Mouse Button. Works as "Charge Formation" when you have an allied formation selected and target an enemy one. (Also migrated from Command Module).
- Replaced the troops "Move To" destination's flag mesh, so it is more visible.
- Save compatibility: This mod won't read/write anything from/into your save, so you can feel free to enable or uninstall this mod at any time.

Thanks my man! Super appreciate the suggestion.

It's helpful for sure, but falls a little short of what we need. The ability to rewind/pause after the battle has finished.

"After the battle" is important, as we'd ideally like such a feature compatible with online multiplayer events

I updated the original post a little to make this more clear

I'd love to have this feature in-built into game engine so we can replay fights and battles. We can all be movie directors then!

Thanks for sharing this, I had no idea they planned to include such a feature.

I wonder what happened to it?

In a way, I hope this makes it more probable that they can finish it? Creating a feature from scratch vs finishing something already started? A man can hope right?

The replay window is in modding kit but it don't work.

Whys there no birds eye camera view in the actual game you can't tell me any thing like "takes too much time to do" because im pretty sure it's super easy to add a free camera on console

I'd wager that TW still have a working replay editor on their end and they might be using it for their promotional videos. Rather than using a camera mod etc. The comment below was made in 21
The replay editor is not working at the moment, updating it takes a lot of time which during EA we use to focus on other things. But it still exists. Our (EA) Launch Trailer was made by using it for example.

How about some of the scenes in their recent winter sale video, the video could be recycled but it was posted on 12th Dec 24

As an aside, Nvidia Omniverse featured some of Bannerlord's assets a while back and if it still works, that might be worth checking out for content creation ideas.

It's a fair point, there must be some form of functional replay editor in order for them to make these promos.

It's why this particular suggestion feels super tangible. We're not asking Taleworlds to make a brand-new feature. Only finish/release something they already have to creators/modders
