I've been often playing solo, or 2-10 people max group. Whenever I want to take certain quests (ambushes, escorts, etc), I get halted by quest giver clearly underestimating my and my elite killers skills with "you don't have enough troops". For all I know you need 20 troops for escorts, 30 for ambushes, why would I run such a large group when I can clearly do more with less? Make it 0 and leave player to decide if he's skilled, foolish or both to try it his way.

IMO, when player is trying to get a quest, they should show the difficulty of the quest instead of placing a hard barrier on the requirement

excellent argument. Although it would be nice for the quest giver to tell you how many people you would need and for you to tell them "my guys are more than enough", following this path will have a greater impact on your relationship with the character, whether you fulfill it, showing your Valor. , as if you lose it, showing how foolish you are.

therefore, you have a warning, but also freedom. Mainly a warning for new players who don't already know that having 20 fian champions is the same as installing a modern weapons mod.

This, pretty much. This issue really hindered my last errant knight playthrough. I really want to reenact the Seven Samurai, damn it. Consider this too. There will be mods that would allow the player character to get ridiculously overpowered, at least when compared to bandits and common soldiers. Removing this requirement will help those scenarios.

I once played like this, as a hero for fun. Really, that limitation makes you lose the opportunity to do several missions that would be fun with that roleplay. At least attacking bandit dens or being a mercenary has no limitations. The only limitation is to drag all the loot to a city haha.
