Remove the ladies's hats

I posted this in the quick answers thread, but it's probably too big of a question to go there. Ok, so the one thing that's been bothering me about Floris (and Warband in general) is how the ladies in the game have to wear those really ugly hats. Is there a txt tweak or something for Floris that would make all the ladies in the game remove their hats? Thanks

You can add a new dialog option that will allow you to remove your wife's hat at least.

In floris, 2.5.3 the new line becomes:

dlga_spouse_talk:spouse_inventory_wife 69631 785  0 Let_me_see_your_equipment 0 1 2051 0 NO_VOICEOVER

I don't see how you could remove headwear globally without hacking on troops.txt or item_kinds.txt before you start a game.

Nevermind, I tried using Morgh's editor to individually delete all the hats from their inventory. However, they still appear even after the change, in a new game. I removed the hat item from troops 1023 to 1143, but they all still appear in-game. I double checked the changes using the compare feature in Notepad++ to the original, and it is indeed changed, with the hat value set to -1 for all of them. But the ladies are still wearing hats in game, despite this. Am I doing something wrong?

I remember checking in Morgh's and I think most if not all of the ladies did not really have the hat items in their inventory. They have a dress and shoes/sandals, and that's it. I think in Floris it may be scripted to be added to them randomly or something. I was bothered by it too, because the lady I often court in a new game often has that unflattering Rhodok hat.

Floris doesn't change this.  It is a native scripting.  The hats are added during the script_game_start sequence by another script ("add_lady_items") that looks at what their dress is and gives them a hat to match it.  As the workshop no longer does this one I tell I am not a fan either, but I don't think we planned on making any such change to Floris.

Also don't forget that changing the inventory of a hero character (lords, ladies, player, companions, pretenders, etc) using morphs will require a new save game to take effect.

Ah good to know. I wonder why they bothered doing that in Native though lol. I mean, I know they like random stuff but wouldn't it have been smarter and more player-friendly to put it in their inventory and use the guarantee_helmet flag or something?

Anyway at least we know now how to fix it.

I actually did a mod for this in native back a couple years ago to remove the hats but that was probably back around 1.011 or so. It doesn't work any more and I haven't really done much modding since then.

But I ran into the same problem, script_game_start was doing the add lady items which was putting a napkin or a turret hat on just about every lady in the realms head. I found it highly annoying.

What would I change that to to remove the lady hats?

Why not just remove the lady hats from the game entirely?  They don't add much to the experience IMO, and that space could be used for something more useful and interesting.
