Regular system crashes (Win 8.1)

Hey all, I'm faced with a frustrating problem and after looking around on Google and these forums for a few days I haven't been able to find a solution. I put in a ticket with TaleWorlds support yesterday but haven't heard back from them yet.

Basically, my game will randomly have severe crashes which can only be solved with a hard reboot. The screen will all of a sudden and out of nowhere go black, and often there's a loud buzzing sound (which might be a glitched version of whatever sound was playing at the time of the crash).

I just updated my Nvidia drivers, and just had another crash. I tried running in administrator mode, still getting crashes. Verified integrity of game cache, and deleted/reinstalled Warband: it's still happening. Any ideas about what might be going on?  :mad:
