I am, admittedly, a very new player and new to the boards, so this may have been addressed.
The merchanting/trading system is brillant and original (THANK YOU!!!) -however, as far as I've been able to tell, it only applies to the trading goods side of the game. I suggest the equivalent of a Solinghen, Milan and Toledo -cities known for their fine weapons (Sohlingen and Toledo) or good armour (Milan, cities in Burgundia and High Germany, etc.)
Not that new armour needs to be designed -although that's always a nice thing- but that specific types of "good" armour would show up more regularly in certain cities. It can even be tied into the fabric of the game -eg: Why does Sargoth need all that iron when they do linen production? Wercheg is a port city, thus, would be an importer. It seems kinda funny sending all thouse Zendarian tools out to Tulga (The middle of NOWHERE!) without any kind of reason, don't you think? And darn it, I need a reason to go to Veluca, because dried meat doesn't cut it!!!
So, I suggest two or three centers of armor production, where you can find varying grades of metal armour and "higher class" weapons in greater frequency than in other cities. This shouldn't be a "go here to get 1337 stuffs!!!1!" city (because face it, there's a lot of peasants out there that need their simple kettlehats and falchions) but more like the place we warriors make sure to stop every week (or every other day) just to see what's new, even if it's out of our way. This could be a nifty in-game way of explain the differences the Swadians' armor style and the Vaegirs'; almost like an easter egg for those who are paying attention.
This could also be used to tweak the trading game a little, adding another commodity that's in higher demand outide that city. (eg: it's friday in Jelkala and they're sold out of velvet -now what? Oh, we'll hit the smithy!)
