So, it seems that there is a fairly loud desire for the DLC to be released on console. Whether they are gamers who don't want to spend $1000+ dollars on a functional PC, or people who would like to bring the DLC to the bigger screen, it appears that there is a significant and noticeable demand. From a gamer's point of view, it seems obvious that if the developer released the main game on console, the DLC would follow shortly thereafter. There are, however, several good reasons why TaleWorlds would not release any DLC to the console, and I aim to point some of them out.
First, those of us who desperately want console DLC must question TaleWorlds' purpose for releasing the vanilla game at all. I propose that the developers of M&B2: Bannerlord wanted to gauge how successful a console game would be, and Warband is that gauge. It is sort of a test run, and therefore isn't really meant to be followed up with accessories such as mods or DLC. Sure, a patch or two will be released so that the game actually WORKS on your xbox or playstation, but ultimately it probably won't go anywhere. That it MY proposal.
We also need to point out how much effort would be diverted from their current project, which they've been working on for like six years now, in order to port over any DLC. It seems like the team is fully focused on Bannerlord, and so I would assume that they wouldn't see much point in releasing, say, Viking Conquest. I'm not sure if their reasoning is influenced partially, or perhaps fully, by financial purposes; that they might think the DLC is simply not lucrative enough. But whatever the reason, if they haven't released any DLC by now, I don't think they will... ever.
And so, it probably would be best for us PC/console hybrid gamers to just look forward to Bannerlord, and not let our desires for the old DLC swell up to the point of even more disappointment. Personally, I will continue to hope that they do eventually port it over (all the DLC looks incredible!!). Originally, I was really frustrated with TaleWorlds for not selling DLC, but I think I see the reasoning behind their choices, and hopefully you do too.
