Refusing to be king

Am I missing something?
Is there any way to refuse becoming king/emperor/khan?
This is the third time this happened to me. Old king dies, and the other lords decide that I need to be the next king.
Is there any way for me to refuse? Am I missing a button or something?

Nope, you overstayed your welcome now you're stuck with em!
It's supposed to fixed to allow refusal or abdication(or another word that means what I'm saying....) in a future update, but who knows when.

You have to become King and enjoy it there is no other option yet. It is fun though.
