I'm not sure if I should be posting this here, so if not, mods please move my topic to the appropriate forum.

I would like some mod recommendations! I've been playing mostly Native and Diplomacy with TweakMB and some text editing to modify the game, but I'd like to try out some more dramatic mods.

I'm interested in mods that don't mess with the core gameplay too much, but mostly expand or refine the existing game. Mods with a different map but similar gameplay to Native would be the best.

Thanks.

Hello, I'm new to the forum.

I'm looking for a mod that gives more of the RPG feeling.

I really enjoyed the native game, but in time I felt it lacks "meaning".. like in stronger storyline, more RPG content, not just so action oriented.. I really missed some story related quests insted of just generic ones. Are there any existing mods that even remotely fit the description? :?:

Thanks.

You should try SOD for Warband or M&B vanilla.

Thanks for the quick answer!

I totally forgot to say that I'm looking for a Warband mod (singleplayer). Is this SOD you're mentioning the Sword of Damocles?

Actually no, it was just the first mod on the warband mod list that could be abbreviated to SOD.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll most definitely try it (downloading as I write ).

Sword of Damocles would be a good choice.
I'm honestly just waiting for Custom Commander, PBOD, and Diplomacy to be combined, so I can use my troop tree in it, would be the best mod evar.

SOD is a great mod, really enjoyed playing that one despite being a fan of native (+ a few tweaks  )

Pre-Battle orders and Deployment is another good one but not so much if you are looking for a change from native.

I would also suggest Bryntwelda or whatever it is spelled... I never really got into it myself (waaaay too many changes) but the time I did spend with it was fun, completely different, and who can say no to riding a donkey into battle?

I've been playing SOD for some hours now, and I don't see any RPG enhancements.. Gameplay is almost the same as with native, no story etc. Am I missing something here?  :???:

SoD and PoP are your best bets for 'RPG' elements, though neither have full stories by any means.
Warband mods, by and large, maintain the sandbox element of the game. Lueii has a story mod in development, though, that you can check out in the Pioneer's Guild.

I take it PoP would be Prophesy of Pendor? I'll definitely try it, and I'll check out the one in making too.

You said Warband mods don't have much RPG in them, how about M&B? Are there any RPG mods for it?

Have you tried thinking about it like a DnD campaign? You can make your own RPG so to speak in M&B. Frankly, I can't think of anyone who has wanted to mess with that to the point of linearizing anything.

Prophesy of Pendor, Sword of Damocles: Warlords (still in beta form, but coming along very quickly), Floris Mod Pack, Hundred Years' War, Invasion, and more that elude my mind.

only pop has some late game quests in it, also has a new type of quests called "heartbeat" quests.

I have no idea about RPG mods, and I doubt that there are many, as M&B is, after all, a sandbox game.
But if you're looking for a bit more depth and refinement to the combat and politics in Calradia then you can't go past the combination of Diplomacy + Pike & Blade + Pre Battle Orders and Deployment (Thanks Caba`Drin, Hands down one of the best AI improving mods out there)
You can download Diplomacy + Pike & Blade as a single .rar and then just copy in PBOD over that. They're all available on the Diplomacy sub-board of The Caravanserai.

And for the multiplayer fun I recommend: Vikingr, cRPG, Mount&Musket and Lord Blueberry of Swadia is busy with a Native roleplaying server:

But there are many other Multiplayer mods worth playing I can't name them all and I don't wish to insult any by forgetting their name.

Also this might be useful:
