I did successful revolutions several times.
The easiest was for Dustum Khan (or however he's called). I managed to get high relations with all lords except 2 and a high Persuasion skill while I was preparing it. I myself was owner of a city (former Rhodok) and used a long time to build up troops and relations. I started the rebellion when the Khan was leading several lords into Rhodok territory. I got my elites and sieged his capital (Khergit on foot against Nord and Rhodok will loose) which I gave to the future Khan. I then toured the other cities and castles and got them all on my side with the exception of a castle captured from the Rhodok that was given to the one lord that hated me. I used my forces to garrison the capital, returned home for new troops and confronted the returning Khergit lords - 2 joined, the rest including the Khan were engaged in combat and defeated (I managed to separate them). The last fight was for the castle I mentioned above with the garrison, it's lord and 3 lords without troops that already respawned.
Other rebellions where more work as I usually manage to convince about half of the cities and castles to come to the Dark Side. Above was very lucky.
