Rebel and Player Faction Combo

Currently, doing a Rebel quest is pretty null since fiefs don't get handed out properly (1.113). However, you may find it easier to do the rebel quest through starting your player faction first:

Join a regular faction as a vassal

Own a town or castle

While a vassal do not renounce your oath through the king, instead directly seek out a claimant and support their cause

The claimant will join your party, but without their ministry ability (won't ask you after conquering a castle who you want to give a fief to; instead, ask your companion minister later)

But since you own a town/castle, the lords of the land consider you a new faction

This will create a player faction rather than a rebel faction. Both are the same thing really, it's just handing out fiefs is stalled via the minister.

Completion of the claimant quest will return player faction to the newly restored faction. So yeah, you're not king anymore and you dont get the cool name. You were in it to do the rebel quest anyway so it's okay.

But guess what? You can still renounce your oath to the restored faction when you don't get the fief you want and start the player faction again--the name and stuff is saved
Hmmmm a nice workaround, way to go!

I was wondering about that same route as well, but was hesitant to start a new game on just a hinge. So it worked for you, that's great to hear

seems like some people have the fief assigning bug, some dont. i hope this works for everyone. going through player faction should be less buggy than the limited options from talking to your claimant in part

it took a whole lotta cheating to see through that this path was viable. word on the street is that theyve fixed this assigning bug for the next patch, but either way, i think going through player faction is a stronger way of doing rebel quests
