Real speed run this time. (Finished - 162 days)

Wow, that's quite an achievement. Did you set the world record by finishing in 162 days?

I had a quick try at this, wanted to do no companions but it's annoying if you do get knocked out to lose all the skills, so ended up taking one with first aid.

Soloing went well enough did a lot of save scumming, shot a lot of bolts. Find it really hard to play the battles safely, I get impatient/cocky and start charging archers and getting my horse killed.

I got impatient and didn't solo for long enough, I suppose at this point is about when you'd gather companions and spend more time grinding bandits. As for skill points I put a lot in first aid before I realised it's useless if you're on your own, went for 0 spotting and 7 strength, sieges were hard/impossible with such a useless crossbow and poor proficiency (1 wm) and to few troops. Field battles however were a breeze with 50 Swadian Knights, I could have pretty much just left the room and still won the majority of battles. Although autocalc is predictably hilarious; I attacked 8 peasants with about 50 knights and 20 nord infantry and they managed to kill 3 knights and 5 huscarls???

Had a few ideas not sure if any of them are worthwhile; Sowing chaos and war to get the factions to weaken each other, you can do the make war quests and leave that faction join another and repeat or join the strongest faction and run around taking all the disputed towns/castles and leaving them weakly garrisoned. That wouldn't take that much time and should get everyone fighting nicely. Would probably have you be the most hated person in Calradia though.

Bakters, Have you tried the 30str 12agi build with max pd and ps and going with a bow? How does that measure up to your build? Also what were your starting choices?

i just have one question, how much was your difficulty setting? If the difficulty setting is max, which is 112% I doubt you can conquer all of calradia in 162 days. your difficulty setting mst have been very low

You would be wrong thinking that. He posted the stat window on the previous page; 103% difficulty.

My computer couldn't handle full battle size back then, but later I played with maxed battle size too.  It didn't make much of a difference, but there was some.  Field battles were easier, because when fighting against big odds you tend to lose most of your soldiers when they are spread out while the enemy is concentrated in their spawn, and the player will always be able to use his first charge to the full effect.

Sieges are more or less the same difficulty.  You have a lower chance of breaking through, but it's easier to shoot the enemies down.  They already pack the walls tightly, so no difference in actual numbers opposing you, but you have a better choice of targets.  Only a few rounds and all of their ranged troops might be out.  Higher battle size makes for quite a positive difference in places where the AI tends to camp inside.  Less rounds needed to thin them out.

I'm sorry but you didnt answer to my question. I've been playing this game for 3 years although i'm new to this forum. So when you set the max difficulty which is 112%, any nordic castle will have about 50-80 huscarls, 50-60 nordic veteran archer, about 30-40 nord warriors and veterans inside, and I know even though the difficulty settings are low, they will have the same  number of troops but their damaging points will be different to you and your soldiers. for example, if difficulty setting is 112, a nordic huscarl can knock you down with two thrown axes or sometimes one. or if he hits you with two handed ax, one hit maybe enough to knock u out. but when the difficulty setting is low, huscarls have to hit you or soldiers several time to knock u out. do make I sense? so what was the case in your game? Same goes to rhodoks, one or two bolt of a rhodok sharpshooter will knock u down.
Actually I took up your challenge and now trying to conquer calradia in a speed-run, but with difficulty setting 112, i am not very sure i can or not. because when i started my reputation was just 10, in 15 days, i became a mercenary fighter for nords, 45 days i am lord with only one village. At the beginning just two hits of a looter hatchet was knocking me down, or one hit of a sea raider, so it was difficult to rise up, now i am knocking down small-medium size lord troops, but still, besieging isnt possible for me now.

cheers, and wish me good luck

Everything else was maxed, only battle size set to whatever my computer could handle, which was 100, iirc.

And I'm really glad you started your own journey.  Please, start your own thread and ask about whatever you wish.  I will help you to the best of my abilities.  I can even try to promise to check the forums regularly, or I can give you my email for more private exchange, if you wish.

I wish you all the luck out there, and then some!
