reading books past cap

just making sure, if i have 12 intelligence and 4 persuasion, will reading the book and making it become 5 persuasion give me 5 persuasion (i know it will say 5 in the stat screen but i want to make sure im actually getting the increase) anyone know?

Yes, you will then have 5. Books go beyond the cap set by e.g Intelligence.

Yes, you will then have 5. Books go beyond the cap set by e.g Intelligence.

However no skill will go past 10. So, if theres a book with +1 for some skills, you just need 9 points to get max in that skill.

Can you also have many of the same book and stacking bonuses? For example does 5 "Great book of surgery" give you +5 in surgery (not talking about books you READ, im talking about the ones that you just have in you inventory for bonuses)

And when I get to Intelligence 15 will I be able to raise my persuasion to 6? Because otherwise this kinda sucks to level up your ability if you have to wait more levels anyway... unless the real advantage is that you will have a spare point at that level to invest in another ability. :S

Good question. I haven't seen more than one of each book, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's not an issue.

nop, your skills are always limited by attributes unless u read book (no more than 10), so u cant raise Persuasion to 6 with 15 Intel even u have read a book before

i tried that in the original but it doesnt work, so i think in Warband it wont work either (i only tried with 2 books)

Yeah you can't stack the +1 bonus to X while in inventory books, or at least you can't with the +1 to trainer one.

Yeah, there's no reason to rush to buy and read books untill you've capped out the relevant attributes as high as you plan to ever take them.
