you start as an orphan bastard who never knew his father training before your first tournament to make a some money.
after your done with the training field head to poros for a tournament
win the tournament and one of the Neretzes' Folly lords will be there impressed by you and gives you a job
to fight a nearby bandit base after hiring you first group of guys and beating 3 groups of roaming bandits then the base he thanks you and tell us about a battle he saw on his days
the quest help someone find his doughter should be the Aseria quest witch opens the dialog option for the Nimr
and deliver herd/escport caravan quests as a transtion from kingdom to kingdom quests all the while you ve to build up your strength and clan level
until you discover that fallen emperor was your father and your mother nothing more than a maiden from the faction background you choose
unite your fathers empire or destroy it for disowning you
 
Alternatively, you can learn to mod and make an entirely new module with it's own story and a better start.

Because that is actually far more likely than Tale Worlds fixing its main quest beyond making it operable.

i believe TW devs have the skill to fix it and change it
if you are worrying about time i believe they can do it near completion
stories drivers games and if they ever want to be a global legit name in video game making they wont let the story go as it is
 
You can dream man, that's all you can do. What they have right now, as half-baked as it seems, will likely be what we get as a start.
