Of course, steam may provide some indication, but please stop claiming statistical significance or facts when we don't have anything proper to go off.
This poll is voluntary. Are you suggesting there is some sort of conspiracy behind this website and a voluntary poll? That the numbers are someone inaccurate? Yes, I am in fact claiming that these numbers are indicative of the people who voluntarily voted. This is a voluntary sample of a population. There are polls like this used all the time...in politics, in retail, in research, in just about everything. You just don't like the results, therefore in your mind, they are insignificant. You just don't seem to understand what a voluntary sample of a population is, and the difference between objective facts (like these numbers and the corresponding calculations) and interpretation of those facts.
I don't give a rats ass about the results, but as a researcher, it annoys me when people who appear not to understand statistics as a mathematical field, start making claims that one learns not to make in any introductory level course of statistics.
You are making comparisons to studies and questionnaires which actually adhere to the standards that are necessary when gathering data.
For example, no one who understands statistics takes a poll from the webistes of Fox or CNN seriously, because it's an incredibly population to draw sample from when you want to make inferential statements.
Instead, polls like the gallup randomly ask participants questions, spend a ton of time making sure questions are good and use a large enough sample population to ensure that they can make sure the sample represents the population accurately.
