Rapid strength growth of kingdoms in 1.3 beta?

So after todays hotfix i could finally play 1.3 with my old save from 1.2. I had a nice starting kingdom going at around 2,5k strength while other factions being at around 5k max. But suddenly they started to grow in strength very rapidly, from your usual 5k avg in game to 10k (every single faction went to almost 10k) with khuzait getting to 12k before i stopped playing. All of them just started to declare war on me and just me, i checked and nobody else was at war, i admit i didnt have enough gold but even having millions wouldnt have saved me there i dont think as they are just going to declare war again in 2 days.

Anyways i have never made a kingdom before so was it always like this or is this just the new patch causing the strength to settle around 10k+ avg?

Not sure, but armies and faction strength in my game (in e1.3.0) are enormous, with the biggest faction at 24000, next smallest 22000 and then 18000. I couldn't say whether that's because of the version or because of game time though- I'm presently on day 2080. Lords of kingdoms have party sizes ranging from 280 to 300 and many prominent clans run around with multiple armies of 140+. I assumed this was more a function of the day # than the patch version, but just putting it out there.

They're recruiting more I think.

That's possible... I have noticed that every time a lord touches a village, they immediately recruit everything they can. Not sure if that was the case before.

They also tend to immediately buy them out of food... pretty frustrating if you're leading an army and needed more for yourself.

I may have found the issue, which is that ai is just recruiting non stop and stocking their garrisons just look at this

Every town is like this, some castles too

Really good point actually, garrisons Definitely got bigger on average. I had one castle siege where the castle was so full of units that the infantry waiting for the siege towers got so crowded that they started literally spilling off the walls. At least it was super funny to watch.

At this point it really feels like the devs are just trying to roadblock players as much as possible to get more playtime out of them. They're breaking their own systems in rather pathetic attempts to make the game harder. Like they didn't fix the lack of food problem that occurs, they just made Lords buy up all the food as much as possible. Which leads to this silly war of buying all the food from villages/towns before the other lords can lol. Unless they fixed village food production, those Garrisons are still going to starve if you don't mod it out. Far as I noticed, Sieges still reduce all food to 0 instantly, so Food Storage isn't working yet, though they may have tweaked the numbers on how quickly a garrison abandons their posts even when they have 0 food for a prolonged period. Even Militia numbers don't seem to drop as quickly when there's no food.

Oh yeah, this ruined my current campaign.
In the space of roughly an in game year kingdoms went from between 4-7k troops to an average of around 15k.

The player kingdom simply cant keep up with that.

Add in the fact that so far every time a faction has declared war on me since this latest patch, at least 2 others do at practically the same time, and I am boned.

I was able to hold them off for a while but the fact that theres no cooldown on re-declaring war, the player has to physically find another faction to recruit (for mercs or nobles) or parley results in it being physically impossible to have a successful kingdom. Your gold also only lasts so long in buying peace.

Very frustrating.

Yea I'm just putting down the game for now until they get their priorities in order and stop trying make life harder on the player and actually implement core features like... I don't know... ANY WORKING DIPLOMACY AT ALL? lol (Relations don't do jack atm, they're only good for Notables so you can hire more recruits, you have to mod/use developer console just to declare war/peace, no way to form alliances, the list goes on)

It's basically the half-ass balancing again. Addressing 1 symptom while not addressing the problem. They changed it so that lords now recruit higher tier units but didn't change the fact that they cheat like hell, respawn immediately, and spam armies like crazy. The reason the power levels are so ridiculous now is because instead of endless recruit spam it's endless spam of decent armies now.

thats ridiculous. glad i havent updated since 1.1. mods have fixed virtually every issue now. 1000 defenders is just obscene - not to mention fiscally impossible to manage considering that taxes are 20% prosperity, half of those lords are losing money on a daily basis I bet. Hopefully this is unintentional, I can't imagine sieges with an average of 1000 men. It'd just make the siege grind even worse and FORCE you to spam trebuchets, unless they nerf those too. Not to mention, this isn't warband where you fight a fraction of units - you are fighting all 1000. Insane. That should be a last stand defender count.

Leme guess, the "Garrisons don't starve" mod probably got broke too? I've been doing new games on 1.3 beta but on my other game I needed that, don't know if it'll work.

Well there's multiple mods by the guy who did Garrison's Don't Starve now that address the issue better than the devs have so far. Getting them to work depends on the version you're using though.

He's got "Food Supply Awareness", "Rebalanced Buildings" and "Production Scaled Daily"

Yea, I noticed that too, within 3 weeks in-game, the strength of the Southern Empire went from 8k to 14k and they didn't even conquer any more cities or castles, the devs need to get their **** together, this game been in development for 10 years, there are much bigger games that take less than that.

I just want them to fix an issue where my kingdom randomly declares war on factions I'm not even enemies with. Literally have 64 with Vladia and for some reason my kingdom which is the king of, declared war without my consent.

Yea I only had 3 Garrisons of like 400ish troops before making my own Kingdom and was losing 15k a day passively.Thankfully all the ruler Policies that allow you to basically get rich offset it, but not by much. After forming my own Kingdom, I was only up to gaining 1k a day passively. These Lords with huge Garrisons are no doubt losing money daily but they probably cheat to get all the money anyway. So they don't even care about money.

I'm not sure I like the bigger army game.. while it's cool in theory to have these 1k+ vs. 1k+ battles constantly, in practice it's actually kind of a chore. Maybe that's just me?

I definitely don't like sieges with 500+ on each side, though. that presently doesn't work well at all.

In my playthrough they also declare peace as fast as they lose a lot of battles. They also tend to extend peace to the time it takes to rebuild army composed of more higher tier troops.

Luckily for you, there are ways to mod this so that the sizes of armies are much smaller. Try I think, Neateds Modular Armies mod or something like that. Let's you literally define most of the bonuses to party sizes, so you can shrink them down much more. Then try something like bannerlord tweaks, to customize militia sizes.
