Ranged weapons. Worth investing?

you cannot ignore the skill investment. it's the main point when deciding between using bow and crossbow.

For the purposes of discussion, I'm pretty sure you can ignore the skill investment, particularly when one expressly states that they're ignoring the skill investment.

The reason I was doing so was to discuss the merits of the weapons at maximum potential, which is useful for judging whether that skill investment is worth it in the first place, when building a character.  In other words, if the crossbow (which requires no investment) exceeds the bow under many circumstances, even with a skill investment, than that makes that investment less worthwhile.

Hence, my disagreement with you on whether a high-level bow is, in fact, inferior for sieges and protracted battles.  If so, that affects the worth of the skill investment.

Regardless, I'm happy to drop our discussion, as it is clear that we don't operate on the same wavelengths for this topic.
