Randomize NPC party size

I've noticed that as my level increases, so does the size of NPC parties. While being a good way to gradually increase the difficulty, it causes almost every party encountered to be roughly the same size.

Meanwhile, my party has barely increased in size - and while I enjoy wading through 45 opponents here and there, does it have to be every encounter?

I want to see NPC parties of all sizes. It would add a more organic feel to the gameworld, not knowing roughly how big most parties are. I might need to run in the face of overwhelming odds, or meet parties crazy enough to be smaller than mine!

I agree with you. It currently feels too artificial. Besides, I want to have to avoid a huge party of mountain bandits and say "I can't wait until I can kick their asses".

I agree. I think the relative strengths of hostile parties could be handled very organically if they were all treated as "factions" with hubs and interests to protect, with the ability to grow or diminish in power over time according to their fortunes. Perhaps when you hit a certain rank in the Vaegir faction, the Swadians give the local mountain bandits a chest of gold to train supplies and troops on the premise that they'll harrass you.

I think the game does a pretty good job balancing between who you're able to fight with who you're forced to fight, so a level one dude would have no problem avoiding a mob of thirty bandits. I hadn't noticed it, but I'm sad to hear there's such an arbitrary "gamey" feature, and I hate anything that makes it seem like the world revolves around the player character.

I dont think it really bothers me too much, but yeah leveled mobs to match the player seems kind of.....Conventional. In a game this innovative, it would be nice if it could find a better way to do things. I mean almost all the other systems in the game are pretty unheard of.

Maybe things should be allowed to unfold with some groups being vastyly over powering, I mean really, paying for safe passage IS an option if your group is too weak to put up a defense. And small groups with several horses tend to keep the baddies at a safe distance anyway, if the player is paying any kind of attention to what they are doing.
