So what is the rotating thingy with ball bearings? I see railway tracks in front, so it must be about some stupid railway gun or impractical mega artillery piece screaming small penis.
 
It's a housing for Škoda 42 cm Haubitze M. 14/16 super heavy siege howitzer. It is basically a howitzer for soldiers who got assigned to artillery units but secretly wanted to serve on a battleship. Straight out of Jules Verne's playbook :grin:

The first one is an Austro-Hungarian army postcard saying: [this is] how our soldiers are happy when through the mail from home comes: a postcard, a package, money.
The latter is a Czechoslovak army interwar postcard that says literally the same thing.
