We do not have an informal i guess.. Nobody really addres this lingual phenomenon in everyday life..we just say dwuznak or digraf.. both are equally stiff and lousy ;]

I love Czechia (or whatever you call yourself these days ) and Czech people for many reasons. I live in the southwestern part of Poland (Wrocław) which shorten the geopolitacal bariers and we can be in Prague in approx 2hrs. SO Prauge is no. 1. "U magistra Kelly" serves best knedlicky i ever ate. 2. I have never met Czech who was not kind to me. 3. Beautiful Mountains for hiking, skiing, name it. 4. Your Police is friendly (it happend i lost in jednosmyrtna once or twice ) 5. Beer, attractive girls, great athletes... 6. You seem to enjoy life as Nation... much more Then Poles. 7. YOU are hard working People i used to cooperate with and in those (sadly) rare occasion it turned out to be profitable edevour.. There is more reasons i am sure.

Also, yes, spřežka comes from the root "spřáhnout" - to put together / to join / to bind, especially in order to pull or set in motion. "Spřežení" refers specifically to more than one horse pulling a cart or a carriage in modern Czech, but I guess people would eventually get what you mean if used it for any kind of putting things together.

I'm sure there's more amusing false friends in CZ/PL. "Krásný úžas" means "a beautiful, pleasant surprise" in Czech, while in Russian it means "red horror", which is especially funny in the context of modern CZ/RUS relations.

Sometimes, those are not exatly spelled same way but fonetically sound alike. I am aware of:

Laska = Love (in polish informal of girl, eg. chick , or "blowj*b")
Zachod = Toilet (PL means West)
Cerstvy = Fresh (PL: old, hale)
Napad = Idea (PL: assault or seizure)
Divak = Spectator (PL: creep, freak)
Kveten = May (PL: Kwiecien stands for April, Maj is for May)
There is more I am sure...

EDIT: There is one "false friend" in PL/RUS i heard recently.. Shop / market = "SKLEP" (СкЛеп) which states for crypt in russian. Isn't it also something different in Cestina ?

Laska = bj is super funny. Which reminds me, Polish milość is love right? In Czech it means mercy or benevolence/clemency. And kochać (to love in PL, right) means to enjoy a view, typically in a non-romantic way, like from the top of a mountain or at the beach etc.

I see there is even more convergency So in CR kochać means 'podziwiać' (No doubt that further elaboration could lead us to even more awkwardness)...
