Random crashes

Hi, i know there have been a few threads about random crashes before but they dont seem to match the description of mine so i'll add this one

When i'm playing (either in town, in combat or talking with an NPC) the game crashes sometimes. The screen freezes for about 10 seconds and then the screen turns black with colored lines and dots (not exactly but cant think of a better way to describe it)... the only way out is restarting the computer. This happens on saved games and on new games (still unsaved) from versions 0.701 and 0.702 (never tried previous versions because i only found this game 3 days ago)
Most of the times it crashes after a few minutes of playing, other times it lets me play for over an hour before crashing...

I've tried reducing the maximum frame rate to 85... scanned for virus and other issues (with McAfee and Ccleaner)... Defragged the hard drive... removed all programs from startup (and other unneeded processes) but the game still shows the same behavior

Here's my PC specs:

Pentium with 1.8Ghz and 768Mb RAM
Windowx XP professional with service pack 2
Radeon 9200 Series (i think i have the latest driver, searched for a newer version but there wasnt one)
About 25Gb free disk space
DirectX 9.0c

I just installed the Directx 9.0c and i didnt try the game yet... going to try now and i'll report what happens here in a bit
(EDIT: yes, still crashes, this time it let me fight in the tournament 4 or 5 times)

Anyone know what could be causing these crashes? They seem completely random... probably something in the background is triggering them... dont know what

Thanks in advance

What version are you playing with, 5n1k3r5?  The original poster was using version 0.701 - 0.702, does the same apply to you?

Offhand, the O.P.'s problems almost sound like an over-heating graphics card.

Really though, more info is needed:  Do the crashes only occur during M&B play or does it happen at other times as well?  If only during M&B, are any other games (or any graphic intense progs) played on the computer?

I've got Pentium D 2,66 GHz , 1GB ram , GeForce 7900GS. This problem occurs only during playing M&B , sometimes after 2 hours , sometimes after 5 minutes. I haven't overclocked anything from my PC , so what's the problem with almost brand new computer?  :???:

the only time this happens to me s during holy war mod, its completelyu random and it happens about half the time when i enter a battle

Outdated drivers?

I've installed the latest drivers , but it didn't help. How do I disable this hardware acceleration?

EDIT: Dammit... Now it occurs even more often than on older drivers I think ... I remember that version something about 0.7xx didn't make any problems.

I still have the same problem  It even got worse i think, because it occurs in some other games, like Call of Duty 4, Unreal Tournament (the first one from the series), S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and many more great games that I'd love to play...  Like I said before, I haven't overclocked any of my parts in whole computer. The graphics card is Gigabyte Geforce 7900GS. Changing drives didn't result positively, nor did formatting multiple times the C drive with Windows. It occurs in almost every version, I remember playing M&B on some old version, older than 0.756 i think and it worked without any problems. But now, when M&B has evolved so much, playing that version wouldn't make any sense. Is there any solution for this curse? Or just the game just doesn't want to be played by me ?

Find a decent diagnostic stress test program and see if it picks up any hardware problems.

If it's the same symptoms it's the graphics card resetting. Try turning down some of the graphics options and see if it helps.

Well, it looks like I got rid of this problem (I hope so), I played today till now without any crashes  If anyone is interested with solution: I've just set render method to DX7, turned pixel shaders off, and decreased the texture detail. Works excelent for me. Thanks everyone even for trying to help me
