having same premade companions in every run is not a good way to maximize the game's replayability, they are necessary for the variety of lore, but having more recruitable and dieable companions is a better way to add flavor to the game.

maybe you can create a random event to promote a npc fellow soldier to be a companion and generate a name for him.

or a random event when capturing a sea raider and that sea raider says hey if you set me free I would fight on your side and my name is xxxx

or when capturing a looter and he says hey I know a mountain bandit hideout full of treasure and you seems capable enough, why don't we work something out.

or when the party's moral was low and a high tier veteran step out chanllaging you into a duel because he think you were not worthy and if you win and grant him mercy and he become a named companion and if you lose he will desert the party with more than half of your men

we all know that the companions were overpowered due to they've been immortal in previous m&b. i heard before the early access release said that npc in banner Lord could die, and I thought it was a battlefield thing and it was also applied to companions yet now what I see is just a execution button and a clan member size.
please allow them to die like anyother soldier in the battlefield, so they could be more human like. so decisions like surrender, retreat, would matter. so player won't just let them charge without proper armor. and so on.
I understand that the loot box could be a problem after a companion dies in the battle, but it doesn't matter that much. just imagine the immersiveness and impact to the gameplay such feature could deliver. it's totally worth it.

thank you for reading!

Companions are actually randomized in Bannerlord, there's just not much difference between one "the Lucky" or "the Fish" and another. You'll also see.more get created as the game goes on if.you look for "wanderers" in the index.

As far as them dying goes, there is an option in game settings that allows them to die in battle.

thank you for the information, didn't know that the wanderers are the newly generated companions. now it makes sense that they don't have a background dialogue.
but do they really die in the battlefield? haven't see any of the die yet. I have that option checked, since no one died yet, do they need to become a vassal to become killable?
