Raising Vassal's Relation when you own a kingdom?

So I'm having trouble keeping all my lords happy. Except for a few, they all seem to have -40 and below. Multiple times there's been an assassin waiting for me in a tavern (figured out who was sending the first ones, kicked him) and I've had like 3 lords defect, leaving me with only about 8 vassals.

Anybody have any advise for keeping them happy? I've tried giving vassals fiefs based on their relation to me (the one with the lowest gets the fief, then one with the now lowest gets the next one) but that doesn't work all that well.

I start out with a small number of lords get great relations with them recruit one, give fiefs your equally to each, wait until you have good relations with all of them, and recruit more. Repeat, almost always when i do that noone deflects my faction or leaves it or gives me assasins, I only had 1 in the whole time I was playing, and it was from another faction.

do not worry about it. You honestly do not need them. Just pick 2-3 of them of the highest renown and keep giving fiefs between them, the rest u can kick out. End of the day, its pretty much up to you to win the game, the vassals are just fodder. Won a 3rd campaign as a solo Lord in the entire kingdom . Everyone else was imprisoned or left Calradia.

This is pretty much what I've been doing because the lords don't do anything that's noticeable. Maybe they keep enemy factions from attacking my towns so much, so that's why I consider them important. I barely rely on them when it comes down to taking an offensive strategy. Wiped out the Swadians with my own army. Might've done the same with Rhodoks idk it was so long ago and I only recently started playing again.
