Ragdoll physics?

Wouldnt it be great to pick off enemy knights and riders with a bow or crossbow with ragdoll physics? Hell, it'd be great to kill anyone with ragdoll physics in this game... Anyone think it could it be done?

Hearing from modders elsewhere, if you add in a physics engine, it settles all the death animation and other stuff like pushing chairs and pick up stuff like beer cans. Handles gravity and trajectory and will allow the use of catapults. Anyone who played Half life 2 will tell you the omnipotence of the Source physics engine.
May not be able to put into the game, but i sure hope it would.

well i dont know if army is a physics genius... but if he is and wants to spend the time making ragdoll physics id like that....

but which he wont id at least like some more death animations...

Simplified explanation: It is a system where bodies behave realistically (sort of). A dead body, before or after rigor mortis, acts kinda like a ragdoll when thrown/hit/whatever. Ragdoll physics emulates this. The bodies bend and flop and generally look like they should.

Yeah, ragdoll would be cool. Imagine smashing enemies with a great axe and see the guys fly off. Or pick up beer mugs from the counter and hurl it at Draton. Maybe he'll start a bar fight.

hl2 uses havoc , havoc is VERY expensive , a more realistic option would be to use novodex , though it is only free for non-comercial use , it would increase the price of the game quite alot..

they could ofcourse write their own ragdoll physics system (but its more work than its worth imo)

They should buy Hitman 1 physic engine. ()

BTW There are reasons not to like rag dolls:
-They might look unrealistic
-They take a lot power (or such)

I don't know how much effort would it take to alter the code so it incorporates a physics engine but anyway: take a look at www.ode.org. Free physics engine, though there's a lot to be improved upon, and only gives you the basic physics functions. Plus, I don't know how much it would slow the engine down.
Havok - it's good, but not free.

Now that I think about it, most well-known physics engines ARE very expensive, and they would most likely double the price ofthe released game. ODE would be a great alternative. Although I have no idea what kind of physics it supports, it appears to be free. Good thinking Zer0.

However, despite our suggestions and hard thinking it all comes down to Armadan implementing them.
