The First Aid skill helps heal heroes after a mission.

Does 'mission' mean after combat, and if so, is your character healed as well?

'Mission' means between combats, apparently. You heal up a little even between waves of the same battle.

Your character is a hero, so he is affected by this skill, as are any companions like Borcha.

Which is why the first aid skill is so important. For a tough battle, you can simply turn down the number of opponents, and fight them in waves, and you get healed every few waves.

Very handy for fighting 40 dark knights.
