Warning - This is not a rant or flame war thread please do not use it as one.

Hey, i feel there are a few questions that could easily be answered in 10min by the devs which we all have no idea about and it would take alot of the threads off the board. I really don't see why they were never explained at the start so we know how to play the game!

I must say i think the Dev's support this game so well and i really respect them for it. It would just be great if they took the time to answer some questions and let us know about the direction they are heading in. Ive seen it in games before with newsletters, regularly forum post updates etc and i really keeps the comunity friving for them and supporting them. There are to many flame war posts because people don't understand what is happening or how the game works.

Im aware some of these questions are loosely answered on this forum, such as honor. We all know if you refuse blood money you gain honor. But what else effects it and what effects does it have on the game. Suposidly becoming marshal, but is this comfirmed?

Post your own questions to be answered and ill update this post, please none which others can answer.

To make it easy for dev's to read ive colour coded Waiting On Answer and  Answered

Suggestions/Ideas for Implimentation

1. Can a "Controversy Reset" be implimented  when someone defects/changes faction? From what I have seen, once a lord gets too high a controversy and gets exiled he just becomes a constant problem and will soon leave or get booted from the new faction.  graycloak Waiting On Answer

2. Will a toggle between multiplayer settings and singleplayer settings. Kind of like how you can choose between the old style of lance couching and the new style introduced by Warband?  Trinexx Waiting On Answer

3. Will there be differnt balancing for SP/MP of units? Waiting On Answer

I have a simple, but I think key one: Are multi-player "balance" issues going to totally dominate the Warband engine, or is some kind of mp/sp toggle going to be possible?

Thats not really the sort of questions im going for. However, could add another section of questions about the direction of warband and what they are working on. Dev feedback about what they are doing is very supportive to its community.

Controversy is accrued by troops losing relations with other troops, and by anything that goes wrong on your watch as a marshal. High controversy prevents you getting fiefs or the marshalship. It diminishes over time. The point is to make sure that the marshalship alternates, and also for the political quests -- in some cases, the player takes a short-term controversy hit, so as to improve relations with a lord, which has long-term benefits. It's a very rough simulation of political "favors".

RtR is boosted by a number of things -- marriages, NPC missions, some quests. It makes it easier to attract lords to your faction, and also reduces the morale hit that comes from using faction troops against their parent faction (ie, if you can plausibly claim to be king of all Calradia, Swadians will feel less guilty about fighting King Harlaus).

Tax inefficiency comes from owning many fiefs. It's a balancing tool, and, when you're king, an incentive to parcel fiefs out to your allies.

Honor precedes Warband, and I think has been discussed by the community. In addition to the 1.011 effects, it's useful in courting certain ladies, and helps in diplomacy.

Re marriage, some members of the opposite sex are attracted to you, and some aren't.

NPCs should marry in the course of the game. If they don't, even after having been betrothed for a while, then there's a bug.

Not sure what that means.

Thank you very much .  Hopefuly some other questions will be posted. Have you thought about doing a newsletter? Could contain things you've been up to on bug fronts and features etc, keep the pessents of WB appeased hehe

I take it that becoming king through vassalage is not yet implimented fully? But good to know I can attracted other lords to my faction eventually. Thanks again.

(First off, thanks for the response - really appreciate you posting here!)

Any chance of a "controversy reset" when someone defects/changes faction? From what I have seen, once a lord gets too high a controversy and gets exiled he just becomes a constant problem and will soon leave or get booted from the new faction.

Marriage questions:
Is dowry related in any way to prestige, honor, current holdings or "power"? As in if you are weaker than the fathers' family you pay more whereas if you are already a major lord marrying some nobody they pay you?

Is marriage supposed to improve relations with the spouse's family members?

I think what he means is could there be SP and MP unit balancing, or are unit stats called from the same list.  For example, in SP Swadian Knights might be perfectly balanced, but in MP they might need fewer hit points because of X/Y/Z.  So the SP Swadian Knights would remain unchanged but in MP they would get 2 fewer hit points.

Is there going to be additional ways to gain relations with Lords and Ladies within your own Kingdom?

At present the only ways to gain positive relations with your Vassals is to give them Land, Possibly aid them in a battle where they are out maned and after doing the quest to resolve a quarrel between to Lords, When giving Land to one you gain a slight boost with the other. (I have done this quest once and got the quest again months later but the Dialog doesn't show so tis a bug there methinks.)

This makes running your Kingdom incredibly difficult especially when your Kingdom Lords and Ladies are all Companions who in your party have a 99 point relationship with you and dislike you giving land to people they get on with when they were in your party.

{For example Klethi and Deshavi are friends in your party but give them land and they lose that friendship and you get a -1 relation hit when you give either of them land.}

I got a question:

The quests you do for your Marshall when your kingdome is on the offensive, like getting him cattle or scouting villages.
Does these quests affect the game in any way ? Does they make his army stronger ?

You get XP, maybe some denars(can't remember now) - and the Marshall likes you some more.
You can also not bother to bother, since not showing up for a marshall-quest only gives -1 on relation with the marshall(which is good, since you have precious little time to find him when he calls, and he wanders about the forking forest all the time).
